It seems like the program only gets worse with each new update. For example: Downloaded transactions rarely link with register entry. Manual linking is required. This used to work very well.
Update: Today's 2/10/26 downloads using Quicken one step update shows many of the accounts deleted. It only gets worse.

Refused Reservation Cancelation

I made a reservation for a vacation home in mid-March 2026 on 2/1/26. The next morning I received an email that indicated the property was really an upstairs apartment without a full kitchen. I immediately went to VRBO to cancel the reservation. They informed me that there would be a 50% cancelation charge. I contested this with their agent who informed me that to get a full refund i would have to cancel before January 8, 2026. So, to get the refund I had to cancel over three weeks before I made the reservation. How crazy is that. VRBO refuses to refund the deposit.

Thursday Pizza Ripoff

Tonight, we partook of their Thursday special 2 for 1 pizza. Which is all it's worth.
But the real killer was the wine.
Ordered glasses off the menu of no name, no price Chardonnay. We were served short pours of mediocre wine. Not surprising at this place.
But then we were charged $14 each for the two glasses. $28 for two glasses,
$28 would buy 4 or 5 bottles at Costco.
And then there is the noise. No not expect to carry on a dinner conversation at this joint.
This is nothing but a glorified bar food joint with great pretentions.
But it gets worse. I keyed the electronic charge device for a 20% gratuity. The actual bill printout showed a 26.4% gratuity. This is a fraud we will report.

Review of Wanke

Wanke Vinyl Flooring

We purchased ~1500 square feet of Wanke Cascade Distributor’s Colossal Prime LVP from a retailer. During installation by an installer recommended by the seller, numerous problems were found. Most were the fault of the installer, but not all.
One issue with Wanke Cascade Distributor’s product, Prime Colossal LVP, flooring were multiple scratches and marks on planks right out of the box. Also found were damaged sections of the planks interlocking features. Again, right out of the box. A second issue involved Wanke Cascade Distributor’s Stair Nosing. It is a faulty design that does not link to the planks.
Once the installer completed his work, we solicited quotes from four other flooring installers. All four stated the entire floor, excepting one room, would have to be taken up and completely redone.
At this point, a Wanke Cascade Distributor’s representative, Mike Lee came to our house to see our concerns for himself. He was accompanied by a floor inspector and Wanke Cascade Distributor’s insurance agent. We were never provided the floor inspectors’ report. However, Mike Lee stated, "We need to make you whole".
Approximately 30 days passed before we received a notification from Wanke Cascade Distributor’s insurer that Wanke Cascade Distributor was not responsible for any of the floor issues, and no compensation would be made.
I strongly recommend avoiding Wanke Cascade products because of quality issues and design issues and their refusal to stand behind their product. Any problem you have with their products will be your problem alone.

Review of Floor Coverings International

We agreed to have this company install…

We agreed to have this company install Luxury Vinyl Plank in our home.
Price quoted was $15,000, with a deposit of $7,500.
We subsequently found the flooring to be installed was of substantially substandard quality.
Once we received a signed contract from Floor Coverings, we canceled the next day. Canceling within three days is an option guaranteed by law. Floor Coverings agent Danielle responded with "the deposit is nonrefundable".
In a subsequent exchange with owner Toby Taber, Toby agreed to a refund, less restocking charges, which he placed at nearly $2,000. We stated this was unacceptable since Danille stated the product was popular and in stock. We then initiated a mediation proceeding.
Toby subsequently offered a refund of $6,500 and without any agreement from us, mailed a check in that amount.
In the interest of putting this whole sorry affair to bed, we accepted the $6,500 and the $1,000 rip off.
These are very dishonest and unscrupulous people. The writers of the positive reviews I see here were very lucky not to have had an issue with Floor Coverings. It is also our understanding that Floor Coverings has been through multiple bankruptcies. There are much better options to Floor Coverings International of Vancouver, WA.
We are also considering filing an elder abuse claim as we are a retire couple.

This is a scam

This is a scam. We chatted with this firm, and at one point they requested a one time $5 fee. We entered a credit card number that was rejected. Then entered a second credit card that was accepted. Immediately thereafter we received fraud notices from both credit card banks stating that $62 had been charged to both cards. Beware.
UPDATE: I have corresponded with these people as they requested, and all they have to say is keep repeating there cost plans, which has no relevance.
In the latest email they claim I signed up for their service which is a lie. I certainly didn't sign up to be billed twice. Again: BEWARE
UPDATE 3/22/25. Yesterday I received yet another request for information, even though I have repeatedly answered their questions. But they keep trying cancel my review. Today Trust Pilot is threatening to remove my review.
UPDATE 4/4/25. The company responds: "It looks like you accepted an offer to try our membership program when you posted your immigration question on the site". Really? Just asking a question enrolls me in this scam? And then charges twice for the same fraudulent membership. But at least the charges have finally been reversed. So it helps to post here. Again: BEWARE

Hello,

Thank you for contacting JustAnswer.

We're sorry for any inconvenience. It looks like you accepted an offer to try our membership program when you posted your immigration question on the site. The membership bills automatically to avoid disruptions in service. I have opted you out of the membership.

As a courtesy, we have processed a cancelation of your charges. The funds are made available to your bank the following business day and will appear on your next billing statement.

I assure you that moving forward you will not see any recurring membership charges.

If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.

Review of Delta Air Lines

Delta Refunds? Think again

I have formally requested a refund of our Delta Air Lines plane fare, and had it summarily rejected.
The tickets in question are deemed non-refundable. Ordinarily one could say that policy is acceptable, if it is the consumer that is canceling for his/her own reasons.
But in today's case, we have any airline, and not the only airline that cannot guarantee safe travel. Delta especially has an awful safety record.
I pointed out that our cancelation is driven entirely by our fear of boarding a Delta aircraft. Delta's safety record more than justifies that fear.
Delta is offering what they call an eCredit that can be used to buy other tickets.
How does that resolve the issue? Is one flight safer than another?
I submit it is a moral and ethical imperative that Delta refund our fares, which total nearly $2,000. But Delta clearly has little concern for our safety. But they sure have a lot of concern about keeping our money, even though they have provided nothing in return. They are no better than common thieves.
Update: Even though Delta has been notified of this review, there has been no contact.
Update 2: After 10 days I finally received a response from Delta. The response is a reply to my last email, but it contains no message. What is that all about?
Update 3: I am happy to report that a resolution in my favor has been reached. Delta has acted in an ethical and fair way.

Expect problems if you cancel

We paid for a vacation rental Sept. 3, 2024. On February 17,2025 it became necessary to cancel the reservation. This was done on site. As soon as I requested the refund, they concluded the process with the notice that the refund would be returned to the purchase account. No discussion. No options.
Unfortunately the purchase credit card was hacked and the account closed. Contacting VRBO on Chat, I got nowhere. The absolutely refused to make the refund any other way, and blantantly lied about their options. This goes beyond poor service, or incompetence, into the realm of malice. This is not the first problem we have had with VRBO. They are a nasty company. Clearly their TrustPilot 1.3 rating is well deserved.
UPDATE: 2/11/26. Note that contrary to VRBO's comment, they have never reached out.
More recently we had another incident, reported separately, that forced us to cancel any further dealings with this crooked company.

Advanced Heating and Air Conditioning Beware

Advanced Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc.
Portland, OR

We purchased a Trane Heat Pump from Advanced Heating and Air Conditioning, Inc. in October 2023.
Two issues arose immediately. The installers did not use a vibration isolating rubber bellows between the inside Air Handler and the heating ducts as specified in our order. They also installed a massive cylindrical heat pump where the previous Ruud unit stood. Except the Trane heat pump extended halfway across the sidewalk that ran from the front of the house to the rear. We informed Advanced that neither condition was acceptable. Advanced then installed the bellows as agreed. The outside heat pump issue could be resolved with a more compact model at a $2,000 increase. That figure got negotiated down to $1,000, which we had no recourse but to accept.

But this company’s abuse doesn’t stop there. Heat Pumps lose most of their efficiency when the temperature drop into the 30’s. The system is intended to automatically switch heating from the Heat Pump to electric coil heat when the outside temperature falls below a set temperature. However, this switch to electric heat was not working, and we had to manually make the switch to electric heat when the temper dropped below 37 degrees F. and then reset to heat pump when the temperature rose.

We contacted Advanced who said they would send someone out to make the correct settings, and charge us $149. We thought a charge was unwarranted and should have been corrected gratis, since the unit was not operating correctly and never did, but we agreed to the charge because, once again we had no recourse. But it gets worse. When the repair man came and completed the setup, which took approximately 15 minutes, he then said the bill was for $249. He must have thought we were complete idiots, and maybe we are for dealing with Advanced. We refused to pay the $100 difference, and settled for the original $149.

The two things we learned from this experience is: 1. We should never have used Advanced Heating and Cooling. 2. We should have purchased a new Ruud heat pump instead of switching to Trane.

No support from Filterbuy UPDATE

December 26, 2024

I purchased two 16x20x4 furnace filters from Filterbuy.com four months ago, in July. The filters they sent turned out to measure 15-3/8x19-3/8x 3-5/8. Sufficiently undersize to be unusable in my Trane heat pump.

Filterbuy initially acknowledged that the order fell within their warranty period of 180 days.
After much back and forth establishing order numbers and filter sizes, Filterbuy suddenly reversed their warranty position saying the refund/return policy is only 90 days, and refuse to cover their faulty filters, either by replacement or refund.

I attempted to copy the entire email sequence with Filterbuy, but apparently Trust Pilot does not allow that.

I strongly recommend avoiding this company due to their absence of any ethical standard or acceptable business practice. There are many other company options.

Follows is additional information requested by Filterbuy.

Contrary to Filterbuy’s comment about a 90 day warranty period, they notified me by email the period was 180 days. See below,
That may be a requirement of eBay where my order was placed, and fulfilled by Filterbuy.
The eBay order number they request, and already have, is 13-11839-46830.

Hi John,
Thank you for reaching out, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you’ve experienced with your filters.
If you could kindly provide me with your eBay order number, I’d be happy to assist in processing an exchange for the correct size filters that you need.
Since the order is still within the 180-day period, we can address this promptly.

In the first place there is no 90 days limit. This is just a fiction you make up.
A fiction that you believe somehow rescinds any obligation to the customer or to the quality of your product. Once again your responses clearly indicate what an ethically bankrupt your company is.
I hope people reading this will seriously consider buying elsewhere, as you will never be treated fairly here.

Hi Jon, I have requested additional information so I may look into this for you. Our return/exchange policy is 90 days as posted in our information section. The actual size of our 16x20x4 is 15 1/2" x 19 1/2" x 3 5/8". If you can provide your order number or email, I can look into this for you.

Edit* Thank you for providing the additional information requested to look up this account. I was able to locate all of the emails between you and our CSR Renee as well as Patsy. You are correct in stating the agent mentioned 180-day policy however we do not, nor have we ever had a 180-day policy. It is 90 days. I did see the email where she took accountability for her mistake and explained this to you. I also was privy to see your email responses. Filterbuy did send the 16 x 20x 4 filters which you ordered which have an actual size of 15 1/2" x 19 1/2" x 3 5/8 . In one of your emails you stated that you use a Trane however the Honeywell fits your system. We do list filters by size as well as by brand replacement as the actuals may vary. I am sorry we were not able to assist with an exchange as this order was beyond the 90 days limit for returns and exchanges. We apologize for this inconvenience.

I have had a checking account and credit card account with PNC Bank for several years. During that time I have had numerous complaints with payments handling, and fraudulent credit card charges.
In the current fraud issue PNC has failed to correctly cancel charges, and incorrectly canceled the account because they claimed I reported the card lost or stolen, which is false. Avoid these people. I have never encountered a worse managed bank.
Closed both accounts.

Review of Macrium Software

Been using Macrium Reflect for years, but...

I have been using Macrium Reflect for years and been quite happy with it.
However, I recently had a crash and had to reformat the system C: drive. Then attempted a restore from the full image file, which failed. I tried and older backup to make sure it was not a corrupted backup and got the same result. These were both verified files.
I then reinstalled windows 10 without a problem. With that success, I thought surely, I could now restore my previous backup. Still fails.
My conclusion is Macrium will fail you when you need it the most. It is basically useless, unless you can be satisfied with a false sense of security.
UPDATE: Macrium responded with a message to email them and would resolve this issue. I wrote to Macrium as requested. The response I got was "did you contact support?" They knew full well that was not an option, as their support expires not long after you buy. A useless and dishonest company.

We had Ziply internet service until…

We had Ziply internet service until yesterday 12/18/23. On or about 12/10/23 we called Ziply to have our phone transferred to Ziply. That was scheduled for 12/18/23. Shortly after that call, I received an email saying our internet service would be disconnected on 12/18/23. We immediately called back and were told that was a mistake, that the phone would be transferred on 12/18 and there would not be a disconnect.

On 12/17 I received a text saying Ziply would be coming to the house between 11:00am and 10:00pm on 12/18/23. They never showed up, and our internet service was disconnected.

The morning of 12/19/23 I phoned Ziply. Agent Stuart assured me I would be reconnected by 12 Noon. It didn't happen. In subsequent chats on the 19th I was told there was no way the service could have been restored by noon. Stuart lied. After being shuffled around to three agents on chat, they all said they could not fix the problem, that I needed to phone the office again. The final word is the service will be restored by 10:42 AM on the 20th, which is tomorrow as I write this. The service was restored around 10:00 am on the 20th.
Meanwhile I received an email that said new service would be installed on 1/11/24. I logged into my account and did not see this new work order. So back on chat. I stated the order number and asked what it was for. The agent responded with "The agent did not arrive on 12/18?" What? I asked the question again, and after 10 minutes without a response from the agent, who I expect was not a human, I canceled.
Ziply is the most incompetent organization I have ever encountered.

Disappointed long term customer

I have been an Orvis customer for many years, and have touted their products to friends.
But times have changed, and so has Orvis quality.

The first Orvis shirt I owned was received as a gift some 15-16 years ago and is still in service. It has been worn and laundered countless times and still shows no sign of wear and tear. That appears to be a one-off.

My three most recent Orvis shirt purchases have been discarded very prematurely. Each one having the seams at the left underarm failing after fewer than a half dozen wear/launder cycles.
This cannot be dismissed as abuse. These are dress shirts and never used during any strenuous activity.
Orvis has become over priced junk.

Beware iCarsoft

I bought the ICarsoft POR V2.0 to support my 2016 Porsche Panamera GTS. I was assured by iCarsoft that device was compatible with my car.
It is not. I needed to do a battery reset, which the device is supposed to do. It will not do a reset. I contacted support who asked for pictures. Pictures of what? A picture of the battery. Then I was asked for a log file to be created. I sent the log file and two photos of the screens I encountered. That was two weeks ago. No further response after repeated status requests.
Bottom line is their software is useless. Customer support is non existent. This purchase was a complete waste of money. If you are looking for a OBD2 scanner, be advised to look elsewhere.
