Q:Why did you make a separate Whumptober? A: We noticed the usual Whumptober has taken a strange stance in regards to generative AI content, particularly a non-stance that doesn't seem to discourage AI usage in the way we and some others were hoping. This included saying generative AI had a place in writing as well as art, and saying defending against it was going down on an already burning hill. We disagree with this wholeheartedly. (read this for more info) Q:What is AI-less Whumptober? A: Well, it's basically Whumptober... But with a firm stance against AI content. AI-less Whumptober will essentially function the same, with a list of prompts every day for the month of October, with the difference being that we actively disavow/disallow generative AI content and discourage it strongly

Q: What's so bad about generative AI?

A: Generative AI in itself is a theft. It works off of cannibalizing other people's works, often without permission, and it CANNOT be used without this theft. The argument that you can just train it on your own work is entirely false, as even then with the gen AI apps used it compares, contrasts, and includes work that is plagiarized and stolen from artists and writers alike. It is also downright terrible for the environment AI IS NOT AN ACCESSIBILITY TOOL! Q: Okay, but is generative AI really that bad though? hi guys! discord is doing a survey on how people would like ai to be integrated into discord. take it and say fuck no to every question. when you get to "in general, how do you feel about discord inegrating ai features?", respond that you would actively get everyone you know off of discord and wouldn't pay for nitro or other shop items if they added ai features.

It looks like the survey went down literally minutes after we shared it.

It got shared around a lot before, so fingers crossed that means discord was already being blasted by negative responses and that's why they took it down 🤞

febuwhump 2026 prompt list

this year's prompts were sourced through an open suggestion form, where over 6,000 prompts were submitted. after, the best 100 prompts were voted on in a poll which received 6,265 votes. the top 28 were rearranged into the 28 prompts of febuwhump - with the most voted prompt in the number 1 position ("I like you better broken", 1,959 votes) - while the alternate prompts were selected from the mod's personal favourites of the remaining options.

this is such a great list of prompts, and i'm so excited to see what creativity they spark with you!

if you're interested in taking part in all the facets of febuwhump, then check out the expected timeline for this year's event! pay special attention to march 6-8, after febuwhump, in which everyone is encouraged to comment on as many febuwhump works as possible to ensure that everyone leaves this event with encouraging feedback on their creations!

as always, please check the faq or scroll through the previously asked questions before asking questions. i know the faq is short, but it really does answer just about any questions you have. when in doubt, assume the answer is that you can do literally anything you want.

please note: notifying the blog of completionist status will happen through a google form released towards the end of febuwhump, and if you are interested in joining the febuwhmp discord server, the link will be available to do so for one week during january.

All badges should have gone out.

now that the month is officially over, what do you suggest tagging- and collection-wise on ao3? i have a lot of prompts backlogged that i wrote from the month's prompts but didnt get written in timee for an assortment of reasons, and im curious if - if i get them done - they'd be best posted more standalone or still in association with the event?

Tagging wise you can do whatever you desire. We know some people tag their works as 'ailesswhumptober2025' or something similar, but we honestly only look at the tumblr tag.

In terms of collection, our collection will remain open indefinitely on AO3, so you're absolutely free to still add your fics to it even if you use the prompt list months down the line!

Toshinori stared at the last section on the last page. Living will or medical proxy. That question was so much easier to answer a few years ago. Before Dave had gone to prison, before Nighteye had been killed in the line of duty. He couldn’t ask Gran Torino for something like this; his old teacher had enough on his shoulders as it was. It would be entirely inappropriate to ask Midoriya. The boy’s mother would probably take on this responsibility if he asked, but he couldn’t put that burden on her. Perhaps Nedzu? For all his vocal dislike of humans, the principal cared deeply for his teachers and sought to support them in any way he could.

Every nerve is on fire, every sound is too loud, every sensation against his skin is unbearable. He's had days of being stalked by a crazy Zippleback and nearly killed by the Twins on multiple occasions. He just needs time where no one speaks to him, touches him, even breathes near him. Unfortunately, his kidnappers don't seem to have gotten the memo.

Toady, part 2

Toad kept his eyes closed as he heard the door open and Badger cross the floor and sit down. He heard Badger ask in a soft whisper if he was awake, and thought about just pretending to be asleep. Toad didn't want to have this conversation, certainly not with Badger of all animals. He didn't want Badger to think worse of him than Badger already did. But, this conversation had to happen sooner or later. "Yes, I'm still awake." 

Toad finally opened his eyes and looked at Badger. Badger took a deep breath, as if he was bracing himself. "Toad, I understand that things have been difficult for you, what with-"

"Don't," Toad cut him off. Badger tilted his head, looking confused. "Don't pretend that you understand." How could he, Toad mused, when Toad himself barely did? Nonetheless, he tried to explain, "I'm well aware that both you and Ratty would rather have my father back than me. If you or Rat were offered the chance to switch me and my father, let my father live my life and send me to his place in Hades, I'm not entirely sure you wouldn't. And I'm not entirely sure he wouldn't let you." There, he'd finally aqnowledged what he'd tried to run from for years: that his friends, indeed the one animal who's opinion he held most dear, would rather have his father back than deal with him. 

Badger's eyes widened, his face going from horrified to thunderstruck. "Of course he wouldn't let me, any more than Rat or I would do it." 

Growing tired and irritated, wishing to do nothing more than turn away and sleep, Toad snapped, "And how would I know that, exactly? He was never here. He was always off with you and Rat Sr. or a business trip. He was never at home. I was raised by the servants and they all hated me. And they were all wild wooders, the only other amphibian they had among them was the valet. And he hated me more than anyone else. But father would never listen. He always just assumed I was the problem." Toad lapsed into silence. 

After a moment, Badger said, "I remember your father occasionally mentioning you not liking the servants." He studied his paws for a moment, then looked at Toad and asked, "What did they do?" 

This time Toad did turn away and close his eyes. He was not ready for that conversation, maybe never would be. "Can we talk about it some other time? I'm tired." 

"Of course." Badger was silent for a moment, then asked in a hesitant voice, "Would you like me to stay until you fall asleep?" 

The question made Toad smile. "Sure, if you like," he murmured as he fell asleep. 

In the living room, unheard by Toad, Mole tried to comfort a crying Rat.
