Crying about Fictional Characters on Main

@alexaryebread / alexaryebread.tumblr.com

Alexa, Bastetmoon on Ao3, Alexaryebread on Tiktok

now say it with me: authors/artists dont owe you moral purity. an author/artist job is not to hold you by the hand & tell you exactly what is Good™ & what is Bad™. you should be able to think for yourself

"yes but depictions of (morally questionable thing) are only okay if its punished in the story" thats the hays code. you just reinvented the hays code

every time a country is invaded by the US under the excuse of “rescuing” its people, what’s left behind is either a cemetery or an open air asylum.

there isn’t a single case in history where the US actually saved a country from anything, what they did leave behind, consistently, were stolen resources, exploited land, and futures permanently scarred by military dictatorships.

what the US does in the middle east is widely known, what many people still don’t fully grasp is what they’ve done and continue to do in latin america.

they funded, trained, and supported military dictatorships across most of the region, and they infiltrated our cultures in a calculated, orchestrated way that still shapes us today.

to my LATAM stay strong cuz we’re going to need it in the years ahead.

Huge shout out to all the people who read fics. Who actually take the time out of their busy days to open a fic and read it

Before I started writing in earnest, I did not understand how much writing was going to eat into my fic reading time. We joke about having too many tabs open, but I have a different problem: the amount of tabs I have open on new fics is way smaller than it used to be. My ao3 wrapped would be a sad affair. Unless I’ve subscribed to an author or come across something on my dash, I basically don’t see it

Which has really driven home for me how much fandom cannot just be creators. You have to have people who want to read fic and meta discussions and joke posts. You have to have people who want to look at art and gifs. It has to be mutual.

Community thrives on flow. You have to have that movement of people sharing things with each other for a community to exist

Thank you fic readers. You keep things flowing

"Regulus wouldn't listen to that" "Lily would never say that" "James Potter wouldn't wear that" THIS IS A FANDOM WHERE EVEBODY IS COLLECTIVELY BULLSHITTING AND ALL TGE CHARACTRRS ARE PRACTICALLY COMMUNAL OCs JUST LET PEOPLE BE HAPPY

Once More, With Feeling by Bastetmoon

James Potter’s life is a disaster. Divorced, disoriented, and trying to hold things together with an overexuberant preschooler, he’s doing everything he can to keep his small world from completely unraveling. Regulus Black is supposed to be a ghost: long gone, long forgotten. Instead, he’s quietly rebuilding his life under a new name, babysitting his nephew to make rent, and avoiding the past like it’s contagious. When Harry and Draco become fast friends James and Regulus are thrown together in a way neither of them expects. A story about second chances, fractured families, and the quiet, complicated work of starting over.

may 2026 be the year the word “fetishising” disappears from fandom places, or so help me, 2026 will be my final year

and whilst we’re throwing that word away, may 2026 also be the year we stop harrassing fanfiction authors for their personal portrayals of literally anything and everything in fics, and start understanding that this One Size Fits All vibe people desire for representation is one of the main reasons we Lack representation in every form of literature, OR SO HELP ME, 2026 will be my final year !!!
