Barbossa's Crew: The Background Extras
Within the last couple of years, I've completed my long, obsessive quest to put faces to these names listed in the end credits of the cinematic masterpiece that is Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
According to the DVD commentary, the core group of background extras was cast from the "dregs of LA": bikers, out-of-work actors, people who wanted to be in movies. They accompanied the production in both Hollywood and the Caribbean, appearing consistently throughout the whole film and making a colorful assortment of rascals, scoundrels, villains & knaves who each stand out in their own way.
Since they're non-speaking parts and therefore can't be identified with the help of the script, I've had to go through the actors' filmographies and social media pages. It's...probably the most unmedicated thing I've ever done.
