ID: a video of someone glaring into the camera. Words are edited over their face, and they say, “The pursuit of physical attractiveness being rebranded as quote-unquote ‘self care’ has set feminism back 30 years. Doing make up is not self care. Getting plastic surgery is not self care. The companies and influencers pushing this narrative have a financial incentive to do so. You can care for yourself in ways that don’t revolve around quote-unquote ‘fixing’ yourself.”

In the reblogs is a screenshot of an old tumblr post which goes as follows:

“Tumblr post: women should not feel obligated to wear makeup.

“Bootlickers: just a little reminder though that it’s ok to wear makeup I wear makeup just a little reminder it’s okay to wear makeup I like to wear makeup I have eyeliner wings sharp enough to kill a man why do you hate women who wear makeup I love wearing makeup let women do what they want wear makeup wear makeup wear makeup wear makeup wear makeup.” End ID.

I love when people get mad at explanations of why people do bad things, as if any explanation other than "they're evil and they want to" is endorsing that behavior. I'm sorry, was the idea of ontologically evil people load-bearing to your Neo-Calvinist worldview? Fuck off! Exploring the reasons behind a behavior is the ONLY first step in getting people to stop. Anything else is just virtue signaling.

The first leg hair I saw on a woman was my own hair on my own legs. My mum is very naturally hairless and I knew like one woman who didn’t shave her armpits. When people talk about just preferring being shaved and doing it for themselves I do wonder like, how many women with body hair have you ever actually seen? In real life or not? Because I feel like there are places you could go nearly your whole life only seeing your own, and then hardly ever even seeing your own because you’re always shaving it! And it’s just like well yeah of course having no body hair just feels right to you. You have no frame of reference for hairy women outside of like jokes and insults.

Thinking to myself "they can't possibly have written this entire 20 000 word fic exclusively in 4chan greentext format", like a fool.

Give us the fic

> be me > 22 year old baby trans in the Most Serene Republic of Greater Caliphornia, year of our lord 2069 > no talents or skills aside from a mastery of the Hissatsu Ougi > (my parents were transphobic ninjas)

Let the record reflect that you asked for this.

@lidsel replied:

I'm desperately curious about your daily internet navigation routine that takes you these places.

I mostly just look up what's being referenced when people blorbotag my shitposts.

>and I have to keep walking east because there’s a trail of dead bodies behind me >which is why I’m now in fuxking DENVER >and I’m legit out of estrogen >drowning my sorrows in some shithole bar >”what’s got you down stranger?” >look up >buff cowgirl milf is talking to me

I low-key love this? They're certainly making use of the format; the chaotic and comedic flow of events would feel lower quality and wordier in standard prose

I don't know how anyone has found this as the only ao3 tag it has is "original work." There's not even a rating or relationship type. The fic summary for anyone intrested is:

"in 2069 AD, the region once known as the United States of America is a world of complex lore and political intrigue that our heroine doesn't really care about because she's too busy trying to find estrogen in the post-apocalyptic Midwest."

Give that roughly two thirds of the comments and kudos appear to post-date the creation of this thread, at least in this particular case the answer to "where do people find this stuff?" is apparently "right here".

"You could get up early and do it before work" I could also wait for a magic beanstalk to start growing in my living room LMAO. Let's focus on things that happen in the real world

if your activism involves shaming well-meaning people for not doing enough, instead of encouraging them to keep trying to do more, then i think i found the root source of your main problem, and it isn't the people who "don't do enough"

when I was like 14 I used to reblog these posts on here that were like "YOUR 20S ARE NOT AN IMAGINARY RACE YOURE DOING JUST FINE!!" just to be positive towards my older mutuals even though i didn't really get what they were about and I'd be in the tags like "#so true!! #everyone does things at their own pace!!" and now im 24 I'm thinking back to it and it's like Oh of course the imaginary race. Which im losing

and what if I told you nine was less afraid of love than ten. what then.

for a moment i lived in a beautiful world where doctor who didn’t exist and this was simply a seven-ate-nine joke too layered for me to understand

i was jumanji’d too when i was a kid but no one cared

i was also zathura’d. i got both jumanji’d and zathura’d. Statistical impossibility but sad and true

Can we not victim blame

guy: it sucks that the train back is such a long ride

his friend who is trying to get him to wear foot shaped shoes with toes but is taking it slow: it does

how much simpler can I possibly make it

Hey what's outside the bounds of that screenshot

the image contains only the information inside of it

I feel like portrayals of autism mostly always default to "don't understand social norms/boundaries and so cross them" rather than "don't understand social norms/boundaries and so overcorrect in the other direction to avoid the possibility of crossing them."

Like I don't understand social norms or people's boundaries around casual friendly/familial touch--so I don't touch my friends ever to avoid crossing a potential boundary or violating a potential norm.

And obviously the whole spectrum happens, but I feel like when I see "don't understand social norms" portrayed, it's really just in the direction of "so violates them and doesn't notice and/or care."
