I STRONGLY believe that Chuuya (as well as softly snoring), also occasionally grumbles, pouts, and makes grumpy expressions while he sleeps (Dazai finds it adorable and takes lots of pictures hehe)
I went ice skating so they went ice skating
This phrase has already entered my vocabulary re: media criticism where like. The viewer has a concrete view of what they expect a story to be based on the tropes and cliches they're used to seeing together, and when that doesn't happen, they judge it as a failed depiction of what they assumed it was going to be instead of judging it as what it actually is.
"This show is problematic because the hero didn't kill the villain at the end": When does he steal the bread?
"These two characters who were close friends throughout the series don't kiss at the end! What the fuck?": When does he steal the bread?
"This feels like it's missing a conclusion! Like, the protagonist does bad stuff and because of a critical decision he makes as a result of his major character flaws, meets tragedy in the end! Where's the part where he learns better and brings is love back from the dead and becomes a good guy and gets a happy ending?": When does he steal the fucking bread??
rigid lines drawn between "platonic" vs "romantic" relationships will kill the patient. she needs "okay but how important are they to each other" to live
Churro cookies (vanilla cookies filled with chocolate, covered in cinnamon sugar). Recipe from Ed Kimber’s Small Batch Cookies.
I did have to use choc chips bc we don’t have any other chocolate in the house so the chocolate didn’t melt very well. They were still pretty tasty! However I think I prefer the snickerdoodle recipe from Sallys Baking Addiction so if I make these again I’ll sub her recipe and see how it goes.
was reminded of that youtube channel that records footage of that bridge that scalps trucks today. one of the fascinating developments that's happened since i last heard about it is that, in one of their many attempts to stop the trucks from being can-opened, they installed a traffic light that detects when a vehicle that's over the allowed height is coming and turns red so the driver can stop and hopefully notice the signage all around that's screaming "YOUR VEHICLE IS OVERHEIGHT TURN AROUND" and avoid an accident. However as a result sometimes drivers see the light turning yellow and IMMEDIATELY start flooring it to avoid having to stop, ensuring that the roof of their truck just gets fucking annihilated instantly. Really beautiful stuff you should check it out
the comments have me in tears
It DOES have a sign. It turns on when it detects something too tall for the bridge. It even flashes. And the traffic lights will go red to get people to stop when it detects an over height vehicle so they read the signs. (note this lovely example where the lights are red, because the truck thought it was better than the lights)
every time I see this post I've forgotten how clearly signposted the canopener bridge is, and every time it hits me like a truck (hitting the canopener bridge and getting the top of its trailer ripped asunder)
hi guys! discord is doing a survey on how people would like ai to be integrated into discord. take it and say fuck no to every question. when you get to "in general, how do you feel about discord inegrating ai features?", respond that you would actively get everyone you know off of discord and wouldn't pay for nitro or other shop items if they added ai features.
watch out for the trap! there's ONE QUESTION where the last option *isn't* the max 'no AI' option, read each part carefully to be sure
another thing it's like....I've seen some talk about how Chimney's storyline doesn't get as much attention on the internet or whatever and I mean this lovingly....but Kenneth Choi's acting is always beyond the call of duty of what is required on 911, and so often I think his storylines don't get picked apart by the fandom as much because it's like...he could be acting out a storyline about Chimney struggling to make a balloon animal in the shape of a croissant and people would be too enraptured to even question it. it's 24/7 emmy campaign for Kenny Choi.
overanalyzing the fact that the episode was called secrets :) "how are you so bad at this" and eddie doesn't answer, just looks at ravi like he's gonna throw up all over the table and ravi looks back at him like he's understanding something for the first time. and then buck comes back and the moment breaks and eddie isn't the focus for the rest of the episode but right at the end, buck's male hookup hits on him and eddie's eyes go a little wide in panic before turning and walking away without responding

Deeply surreal to watch the local geek Facebook group I joined a while back largely to get news about local conventions & geeky garage sales morph into a site of resistance at the moment as folks band together to warn each other about ongoing ICE actions and share information about vigils happening across the Twin Cities. I hate that this is where things are right now, but I do appreciate that so many of my friends and neighbors are throwing themselves into the fray, too.
Best thing about learning new subjects or hobbies is that a whole world of intricate procedures, vocabulary, lore, controversy, niche pockets of interest, tricks, deepening personal experience of your own and others etc etc all opens up to you and you just get to walk around in there
tellin some guy from ancient Alexandria "oh yeah you can access a bunch of scrolls on this magic tablet (yeah it's scrolls and a tablet at the same time. don't worry about it.) some of them have curses built in tho because the people who created them want to trap you so you're eternally seeking an ending that never comes. oh yeah they're everywhere. honestly kind of hard to find a scroll that *isn't* cursed these days. but what can u do."
in addition to the recurring trend of every queer dude in the history of 911 but buck clocking eddie, i also find the addition of ravi to the friendship dynamic as the designated straight man to be really interesting actually? like between 9.05 and 9.07 i think it's really apparent that he's there to further highlight the difference in how eddie is approaching women compared to other guys around him, who actively notice beautiful, gorgeous women in the vicinity, want go out to meet them at halloween parties and bars and clubs, and who intuitively understand the unspoken rules of engagement. but then he's also there to observe buck and eddie in their natural environment and give us repeated 🤨🤨🤨 reactions that the camera cuts to when they say completely unhinged things to and about each other in a way that they think is normal because they've been doing it so long
also it's just funny from a narrative irony standpoint to have someone third wheeling their super normal boy bestie friendship this season after eddie spent the first half of season 8 third wheeling buck's last relationship, except this time as a certifiable straight guy ravi has no interest in either of them, he's just there to contrast behavior and notice things
