I desperately need help to keep my utilities on!!
Saturday, January 10th: Hello, everyone. I’m Gem, a bi, mentally ill, and multiple disabled woman in desperate need of help, as I'm struggling to pay my bills and to keep my utilities on this month!!
I apologise for asking for help again. As most of you know from my previous posts, I have been struggling to make ends meet while on welfare. And due to my outstanding bills and ever-increasing debt, it has been difficult for me to get by. These past few months have been absolute hell, and with no other income, I've been relying on the kindness of others to get by.
However, I desperately need that kindness again because I couldn't pay my bills last month, as I was behind on my rent and had to make up the shortfall, and I'm struggling to pay them now. I don't receive my welfare again until the 30th, and my utilities are running extremely low. It is currently -6 °C, and my gas is running out quicker than expected and won't last much longer, so I desperately need help.
Again, I know this is a lot to ask, but if anyone could spare any amount to help me, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would make a huge difference in my life, and sharing definitely helps just as much.
£0/£100!!

my car still works, but i have no idea how long it's going to last. donations have been slower than ever so i haven't been able to save any money.
i'm going to need a few things to get through the cold months without the heating in my car. extra blankets, hand warmers, etc. i can't even afford a coffee this morning!
please consider donating to help me afford everything i need and stay fed through the cold temps.
i've been barely hanging on with the cold and having spent a bunch of money to fix my car. sucks bc i had like $400 ready to get me through until christmas but had to spend it on my car, and now i'm struggling to stay warm and fed and keep gas in my car. please donate if you're able!
I am so damn pleased with the Sedgwick County Zoo media team, y’all. They just dropped a stellar blog piece on why GenAI slop videos of animals are such a problem - and how to identify them!
This is the first time I’ve ever seen a zoo or aquarium in the United States speak up broadly about AI. (The only times I can think of any comment at all has maybe individual instances when a deepfake of “their” animal escaping is circulating.) And they did a great job with this piece! It’s succinct, easy to read, and written in a way that doesn’t shame people for engaging with AI content before they knew better.
I think this is exactly the type of resource needed for sending to that family member or friend we all have - the one who isn’t aware of the slop issue and constantly sends you clearly fake videos because they’re “so cute.”
I’d love to have Sedgwick get some public positive reinforcement for taking this stance. If you’re so inclined, a comment on their FB post would be great as it’s likely they’re going to get shit for this from sloppers & co. We really do need animal organizations to stand up for accurate, real animal content and this is a great first step in that direction.
It is obvious that people are exhausted from seeing fundraisers all over the timeline. There are too many of them and it has been going on for too long. Okay, how about we end all imperialism? How about we hold those responsible accountable? How about we implement ceasefires, with everyone withdrawing, aid entering, and reconstruction beginning? Do we see that, though? No, we do not! ! !
Look at Sudan. The country is waiting for a ceasefire since April 2023, but there has been so many road blocks to get there. From the peace talks to the Russian Federation vetoes ceasefire in November 18, 2024 to the US imposing sanctions on General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, also known as Hemedti of the RSF (Rapid Support Forces) as well as the General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan of the SAF (Sudanese Armed Forces) in January 2025 to filing a case against the UAE at the International Court of Justice.
Then, in November 2025, the following has been reported by CBC: "Sudan's paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) agreed to a proposal from the United States and Arab powers for a humanitarian ceasefire and is open to talks on a cessation of hostilities, it said on Thursday in a statement.
This has to be a joke! How is Donald Trump - who has allowed airstrikes in Caracas and captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife - ending the genocide in Sudan? It is ongoing. In fact, the RSF has killed 100,000 civilians in Al Fashir! ! !
Please talk about Sudan. Boycott the UAE, donate to fundraisers and grassroots organizations, and protest in the streets! Consider helping my friend, Randa (@rnd8). She has been raising funds to evacuate her family out of Sudan! Thankfully, we have achieved the goal and her family have reunited with her in Rwanda! Now she needs our support for her cousin, Maryuma, and her two (2) young children, Reem and Rayan. They are in Khartoum, the capital, and they need to evacuate to Egypt!
Verification: Since this is through association, Randa's fundraiser has been shared by Jin (@/jinforjustice on IG), and @/northgazaupdates!

Support for Sudanese Families and a Community Kitchen
Thomaserena has spent the last 2 years rasing funds to support communities in Sudan. Every month he sets a new short term goal to help meet the needs of the families and community kitchen he's supporting.
This January, the goals are 15k on Chuffed for the community kitchen and 52k on gofundme for the families.
Thomaserena is vetted on SudanFunds.com and has been shared by Sara (bsonblast)
Chuffed: €12,660/15,000
Gfm: €49,727/52,000
Current progress: £15/3,500

Aziza's sister, Nagham is also pursuing her college degree. She needs to cover the last half of her first semester tuition and will be unable to take her exams if she cannot pay, making all the work she's put into school worthless.
Please share and donate if you can.
Help Amna reunite with her mother (time sensitive!!)
£5,531/6,000 (short term goal)
Amna just passed her short term goal of £5,500. Let's help her reach £6,000!
The funds she's raising will go towards her mother's visa and travel fees so she can be reunited with Amna in Egypt. Her current visa for Saudi Arabia is set to expire this month. Without a visa, she will be forced to return to Sudan where it will not be safe for her due to the ongoing genocide and famine.
Amna's mother has been separated from the rest of her family for two years now. If you could give anything to help bring them back together, your generosity would mean the world to Amna and her family.
Amna's Twitter for updates
Amna's campaign was previously shared by Sara (@/bsonblast on insta, twitter, bluesky, and tiktok) in an Instagram reel during her Giving December event she organized last year. There was a highlight on her profile of all the fundraisers she shared as part of the event, but now I cannot find it.

We are conditioned to want products brand new. In the best condition. How can we change the mindset that secondhand is valuable? We can fix it, clean it and it is fine. At the same time, we should hold those who benefit from the exploitation and genocide responsible, dismantle the M23 and other armed groups, and return the mines to DRC. We can do it by boycotting tech companies and Rwanda, donating to fundraisers and grassroots organizations, and protesting in the streets!
Please consider helping out a student from DR Congo! His name is Barnabé and he has kidney failure! He is in dire need for a transplant! €3,676 out of €4,000 has been raised. There is €324 left to go! I have given €10, but you're more than welcome to contribute any amount!
His fundraiser is legitimate! It has been set up by Agissons Ensemble, a grassroots organization in Goma, DR Congo. They provide aid and support to displaced families on the ground. Check out their link.tree!

Housing support for Ahmed
Current progress: £4,573/6,500
Shared by @/madaniya.sdg, an organization of members from the Sudanese diaspora in London.
Ahmed was able to secure temporary housing and replace the belongings he'd lost, but he is homeless once again and struggling with money and mental health.
He has been offered a chance st housing, but needs a deposit and upfront rent to secure it. Ahmed has increased his campaign's goal by 2k to help cover the deposit, first months rent, a month of groceries, and a proper bed.
Please share and donate if you're able to help Ahmed keep a roof over his head and have a secure place to sleep.
Help Maryuma and her children
Current progress: €36,227/41,000
Randa and her family were able to safely evacuate Sudan thanks to the efforts of people who banded together to donate and share her campaign. She has reopened her fundraiser to help her cousin, Maryuma, do the same. Maryuma and her two young children, Reem and Rayan, are currently in Khartoum, where a deadly cholera outbreak has been spreading.
Maryuma has been fighting to keep her children safe and healthy, and now she also must fight to keep them housed. She is behind on rent and risks being evicted if she cannot pay. If she and her children are forced to leave their home, they will be at a greater risk of contracting cholera.
Reem and Rayan are all Maryuma has left after the murder of her daughter in an airstrike last year. Please help her to keep them safe so they can work towards evacuating and joining the rest of their family in Egypt.
Maryuma is vetted through association with Randa's campaign, which is the same gfm repurosed. It has been shared by Jin (@/jinforjustice on IG), and @/northgazaupdates!
It is unfortunate that the cost of living is high now. It is expensive to afford a home, pay rent, purchase groceries, go to school/university/work, and keep up to date with medication or treatments. This is the case for Elaf Babiker and her family. All of them have evacuated from Sudan and are residing in Egypt. Since they are in Cairo, everything is difficult to afford. So let's help her out and reach the 25K mark! There is $217 USD left to go! You can match me. I've given $5, but you're more than welcome to give any amount!
Her fundraiser is vetted by two reputable sources! It is #165 in the fundrasiers' spreadsheet by @el-shab-hussein and @nabulsi. Also listed on sudanfunds.com!
‼️Mohammed has been hospitalized ‼️
Current progress: $5,090/15,000
Mohammed, who has been relying on his campaign to help him access his weekly IV treatments he needs to survive, had to he rushed to the hospital today (September 14th) due to missed treatments.
He urgently needs a heavy dose of anti-virals, NSAIDs, and fluids. The stress of not being able to afford his treatments and accumulating debt is compounding the havoc that his chronic illness is already wreaking on his body.
If you have the means, please donate to help Mohammed. His family and friends are at serious risk of losing him if they cannot afford this treatment for him.
There's no official verification for Mohammed's campaign, but pal_solidarity48 (one of the people who has been working to share his fundraiser) has seen his ID, medical records, and has been in touch with his relatives. Proof of pal_solidarity48 confirming this is also provided below the cut. You can reach out to them if you have any questions or concerns.
