Back to the future (S.H)
S- First chapter yay! It’s a bit lengthy I know and not much additional scenes between Steve and reader but the next chapter (and the extra one) will be all about the two of them. I hope you guys enjoy it. Some of the scenes are not accurate according to the show but it’s fine.
Warnings/genre: fluff, inaccurate time travel stuff (I made it all up) there’s obviously gonna be a HUGE age gap in the 20s but in the 80s they are of the same age, I will dwell more on readers and Billy’s friendship later on (he’s a less of a ass), cursing, not proofread.
I stared at the watch in my hand, a look of confusion all over my face, “This gift by grandma doesn’t make any sense.” I said after a while.
I was sitting on the stool in the dining room, wearing a black dress for my grandmother’s funeral.
“Honey, your grandmother was a clever lady. There must be a reason why she gave it to you.” My mom said as she turned around to face me.
She was busy plating the food for all the guests who came for our grandmother’s funeral.
“Yeah but she always made sure to make it known that she wasn’t fond of me so..” I said with a shrug, my hand busy playing with the straps of the watch. “I don’t even know why you’re defending her. She treated you horribly so many times.”
“Dear, just because someone acts bad a few times doesn’t mean you forget about the good they have done for you. She grew old, so her behaviour changed.” Mom grew quiet, her hands gripping the table, “She’s the reason I am what I am now.”
I furrowed my brows at that, “What do you mean?” I asked.
“I never really thought about starting my own clothing line. My dad in the past always told me that as a woman I just had to settle down with a man but then I met your father at your grandfather's firm. He was everything you would ever look for in a man but then I met his mother.” She smiled softly at that memory, her hand gripping the pendant around her neck, “She was one of the best people out there. She encouraged me to do what I liked, follow my dream and your father was right there through it all to give his support so really if anything, I owe your grandmother everything.”
I stared at the watch in my hand, noticing how the hand was not moving at all, “Does this thing need batteries or something?” Mom looked at the watch.
