THIS IS WHY YOU NEED INTIMACY COORDINATORS (or at the Bare minimum, like hs theatre level budget, a director that has taken intimacy trainings) BUILT INTO THE TEAM FROM THE VERY BEGINNING.

im coming at this from a theatre perspective. but where i work, Every Single Person goes through intimacy/boundaries work on the first day of rehearsal. even if it doesn’t apply to their character. we have safe words to Get Out of a scene for any reason whatsoever. when you AUDITION part of the packet is “are you comfortable with xyz” for a PAGE AND A HALF. and there’s Nuance to the answer options. there are placeholder moves for rehearsal, so you have time to get comfortable within the scene, basically up until tech week when you actually kiss/straddle/whatever the situation is.

there should NEVER be a situation where ANYONE, PARTICULARLY children are Thrown into a scene that has Any level of physical intimacy, without proper rehearsal, boundary conversations, and the necessary coordinators.

i don’t care if their parents were there. i don’t care if they consented. this is not a situation any performer should ever have to be in, Ever. this is not a safe set.
