Jeeva really has started to grow on me, he's magnetic every time i see his art and i hope I managed to capture this in my version

| Mahadev | Shiva | Rudra |

Added more details this time! Trying to find the balance between accuracy and redraw-ability for comic is always entertaining to me! Hopefully you guys like this one too!

Sorry for the delay in posts. life has been a bit hectic and I lost a bit of motivation for art for a bit but we should be back!

It’s been too long since I’ve done a character concept/ ref, so taking the time to do this one really helped me get back into the groove of art :)

Thank you Mahadev🖤🔱

Parvati, Durga and Kali would possibly be next but I’ve been reading about Vishnu particularly so perhaps he would be first…

(This art/piece is in no way meaning to offend anyone, their beliefs or culture! I just love learning about ancient history/religions/mythology and hope to convey that respectfully through my art and fictional story!)

i'm really enjoying bound by blood even though i've only super basic knowledge of egyptian/greek mythology!!

so, my question is: do we need to know a lot about mythology to be able to follow along later on? i will gladly read up on some if i have to lol

so excited for the next chapter!! thank you for blessing us with your beautiful story

Hii! I’m so glad you’re liking it so far!! :D

It would definitely help to know some myths particularly about Dionysus for making sense of some story elements but! Most if not all of all the gods’ canon myths have already long taken place by the current setting of Bound by Blood!

There will 100% be many MANY flashbacks on my takes on these myths, especially ones relative to the story I am telling, so it is not entirely necessary but it wouldn’t hurt!

(There will also be flashbacks to myths unrelated but relative to the featured characters ie. Horus and Hathor falling in love + many others! Your deity will most likely be featured at some point :))

I apologize again for the delay on chapter 6 but it is very long so hopefully will be worth it!!!

Hi Bug! Not to sound stupid but how does one pronounce your your name? Is it straight up bug-gee as in insect or buh-jee? Aaand when you introduced the defenders of Ra's barque, it said Sobek preferred Set's reign to Osiris'. What was the difference? Was it chaotic and ferocious since Horus won't let Set breathe around him?

Hii!! I’ve had a couple pronounce my name wrong but it really doesn’t bother me too much! Yes! Bug-gee is how it’s pronounced! (like the insect)

My name is Bug, and Buggie was my nickname, but a lot of the ‘ie’ when choosing my usernames were taken lol! So we’re stuck with buggee. But feel free to just call me Bug!

And on Sobeks preference, yes he did like a bit more of the violence. Osiris and his reign was very kind and peaceful, while still ensuring justice when needed and maintaining Ma’at. Additionally, Osiris mainly kept Egypt within Egypt, if you will. He maintained and followed the old rules.

Set’s reign was chaotic yes, rule-breaking yes, but it did have impeccable militaristic structure. He also brought in a lot of ‘foreigners’, opening up Egypt and to make it stronger, which other gods were unsure about, where others liked the change.

Set’s army was entirely loyal to him, he built it up as a mortal when he was exiled (More lore of their mortal lives will be explored in Bound by Blood! before Osiris invited him back and then was killed with the chest/dismemberment all that is the same), was originally medjay, (Nubian nomadic archers/fighters who Set transformed into the elite police force/guards.), Persians (who were mainly nomadic at the time of Sets rule), Some early Phoenicians, and more.

(Of course these foreign relations were later demonized, but! Originally Set brought a lot of people together for the better of Egypt. He made Egypt very strong before his defeat was later celebrated/ character demonized by mortals as well as the gods.)

A lot of the gods who have preference for his reign are the more neutral/ somewhat chaotic gods/ war gods/ or foreign gods themselves. (I would say Sekhmet also probably preferred his reign. Maahes was not born at this time but he would have too.)

A lot of the chaos aspect associated with it came from new perspectives/ peoples/ powers in Egypt, it disrupted the original powers Osiris, his mortal parents and gods had maintained for thousands of years.

However, we all know Set can be very cruel, many people and gods also feared him… He is a god of violence after all…

(like O said though, more detail about all of Sets/Osiris rules will be explored in my Comic/Webtoon! As much of it ties into Set’s characterization/ motives :))

Dionysus based on the recent art trend as if i would pass on the opportunity to draw him for the millionth time 🤭

Hello, bug! 👋 I'm curious, how do you draw faces? Like, do you take them out of your head or from real people?

It depends honestly! A lot of the time for characters I really enjoy/ want to learn to make their featured more repetitive to draw I’ll find a fave claim to study their features and apply it to said character!

Otherwise for many first drafts and certain characters I go just from my head, or base it off of their other family lineage who possibly had face claims etc!

Sometimes, I will just see a real person and be like… “yeah that is [insert character here]” And I’ll base their design off of that!

Not really a question just want to appreciate your efforts. All of your characters are extremely complex and I enjoy bound by blood's narrative a lot. I'm eating up every single bit of info you share on Set and Sekhmet 'cause they got attitude 🫠

I also love the way your Horus differs from other version of him in media. His rage blinds him you say? Dayum I gon go blind from seeing all that when sh//t really goes down in the comic

Auugh Thank you so muchhh!!! This made me smile a lot, I’m really glad people appreciate my work!

I’m so so excited to further explore the characters both in and out of Bound by Blood…this relieves me that others are too!

Just recently came across your work and ADORE the Egyptian pantheon!!

My question to you is are you going the route of Khonshu being one of the eyes of Amun-Ra or as the son of Hathor and Sobek? 👀 Either way I cant wait to see more of the artwork from you!!

Hii Thank you so much!!! I’m definitely leaning towards the Amun-Ra route!

Hathor only has one son with Horus which is Ihy! (I will draw them all someday, Ihy and Nefertem are friends!)

Just want to say I like how you depict ancient Egyptian/Kemetian gods as dark-skinned, indigenous African types rather than whitewashed. But have you ever gotten trolled for such portrayals?

Thank you!! Of course I have, there are people out there who genuinely believe ancient Egyptians were white lmao. And more, people seem to not acknowledge or see that my interpretations are all for my mythology inspired comic and Not actual depictions of the worshiped deities.

Furthermore, it astounds me how few people know meaning behind ancient Egyptians skin colours through their art, which is what I based a lot of my designs on.

Osiris’ skin is black because it represents fertility historically, and in Bound by Bloods case, also to represent that the Underworld ‘stains’ those with ashy/ kohl. It’s why Hades’ fingers/hands are almost jet black etc. (I made a post going into more detail about that on twt I will upload here someday) Before his death, Osiris was probably closer to Set’s skin tone.

Amun-Ra and Tefnut are depicted with red skin to symbolize power, I do the same in my takes and so on for others like Ptah with green skin. Again it really makes it clear to me how little people know.

In other cases like Menhit-Sekhmet, It is more to highlight their origins in regards to Bound by Blood.

In Thoths case, I simply just thought it was fitting.

I still have a lot more of the pantheon to design, and things are always subject to change!

I am happy to explain my reasonings for my depictions to those who ask respectfully, but I really can’t be bothered to entertain those people who are rude about it. But again, this is my fictional mythologically inspired takes for my comic Bound by Blood. So if it bothers people so much they really can just move on lol.

This piece was from my digital media class, and was inspired by my research into the mystery cults and the syncretism of religions going on in the ancient world. Particularly how Dionysus' cult interacted with Ancient Hinduism, and how aspect of both him and Shiva were molded together and added into each other's aspects as death and rebirth gods. I was having a good time chewing on that thought for my Pantheon Project, which led me to working on his design for my original world.

He is both Dionysus and Shiva, depending on who is perceiving him, and where. As a wandering diety he has places of worship and power all across the world Pantheon is set in, though he mainly has 2 locales. One in the Aegean and one in Bharat, and those two places each feed his two halves.

As a death and rebirth diety, he was the perfect fit for the death card, and in the setup of Pantheon, as Dionysus, he is the son of Persephone and Hades, rather than Zeus, and it closer to his Zagreus origins than to the typical interpretations of him as the chill "party guy." He is also that, yes, but underneath he is all rot and decay, the slash and burn that allows new life to flourish in the grave of the old.
