Since BoE names are never just a singular reference.

So you know how Dante's Inferno looks like it's going to be a fairly major theme in ATN? And the unfinished question of just what Ianthe - erstwhile Princess of Ida - is up to?

Perhaps unrelatedly, here's a reference to Mount Ida in canto 14 of the Inferno:

Out in the sea there’s an island known as Crete, a kind of wasteland. When the world was innocent that island was ruled by a fair and just king. Mount Ida is on that island. It was like a paradise in those days, but now it’s deserted and wasted away. Rhea went there to protect her son, Jupiter. To disguise his cries, she’d have her servants scream loudly. But listen to this: inside that mountain is an immense statue of an old man. Standing tall, his shoulders are turned toward Egypt, but his head is turned toward Rome, as though it were his mirror. His head is made from the finest gold, and his chest, arms, and hands are from silver. The rest of his torso to where his legs spread is made of brass. And his legs are of iron, except his right foot that is made of terracotta. He stands more heavily on this foot than the other one. Every part of him, except his gold head, is cracked from his tears, which flow down to his feet. There they collect and seep down into the rocks below. Eventually, they drain down here into Hell, and become the three rivers you saw: the Acheron, the Styx, and the Phlegethon. Finally, the overflow pours out through this channel and it drains down to the very bottom, forming Cocytus. It goes no further. You’ll see it for yourself.

A gilded but cracked statue whose tears flow through liminal spaces to become the rivers of the underworld? In the part of hell inhabited by those who've committed sins against nature? Relating to the myth about how the infant Jupiter was able to grow up to overthrow his father Saturn, king of the gods? And referencing the Book of Daniel, which also appears in reference to Dulcinea's mysterious apparent transcendence of the River?

As if I wasn't already worried enough about what the Third are up to...

Kinda fucked up that Palamades was in two different situations where he finally met/reunited with someone he cared about and they did not know who he was. "Dulcinea" completely ignoring him at Canaan House and him rationalizing that she was trying to gracefully end the relationship and spare his feelings. Then, after months of isolation in his river bubble Harrowhark shows up and acts like they've never spoken. It's so crushing.

"Will you not look at me now, Cam, and know me?' Camilla raised her chin. She looked at the dead face. She said quietly— 'Yes, Warden, I will always know you.'"

grief is so crazy like what if i forget what her laugh sounds like. does she know i loved her. i miss her so much. i catch myself doing things she used to do. i wish i could call her. i miss her so much. i do a crossword puzzle. i cry while washing the dishes. does she know i loved her? my heart feels like a hummingbird. i miss her so much. what if i forget what her laugh sounds like. what if i forget.

i talked ab this feeling in therapy yday and my therapist asked me, “would it really be so bad if your memories changed? if they softened and faded or looked different over time? why does that frighten you so much?” and i said, “i don’t want the love to disappear.” and she looked at me for a long moment and then she said, “it won’t. it doesn’t work that way. even if the memories soften or change, it doesn’t mean the love does. that love keeps going backward in time, forever, because you love her still. all is not lost.” i just thought i would share that in case it resonated w anyone else too.

I think there's something beautiful about the fact that "The Locked Tomb Trilogy" became "The Locked Tomb Series" because Tamsyn decided to dedicate a whole book to Nona. A whole book dedicated to the six months that Nona, Cam, Pal, and Pyrrha were a family. A book about how the love was there, and it doesn't matter how briefly it was there. It's over, it's finished, you can't take loved away.

Please understand what is happening right now. An illegal unsanctioned organization (DOGE) headed by a foreign Nazi billionaire (Elon Musk) is actively raiding and sabotaging the federal government.
