the penthouse vibrated with the bass of upbeat music and good vibes. you sat out on the balcony with a few friends where it was somewhat calmer, chatting about plans for the new year with a beverage in hand.
the stars twinkled brightly as you gazed while listening to your best friend share her hopes for the coming year. after her chatter dies down, you reach for your phone to check the time; 11:52, your lockscreen reads.
unlocking your phone, you find martin’s contact like it’s second nature, which it pretty much is. you shoot him a text

you tell your friends where you’re headed and wish them a happy new years and that you’ll find them after the countdown.
you step back into the penthouse and the bass buzzes through your heels. you make your way over to the kitchen area, eyes scanning ever face in search of your boyfriend’s. you walk deeper into the room, eventually spotting martin.
you carry yourself in his direction and his eyes land on you not long after. a smile spreads across his lips, displaying his pearly whites.
“hi tini!” you greet him, already wrapping your arms around his neck in a hug while his hands snake their way around your waist.
“hey mama. having fun?” he says into your ear, pressing a kiss to your temple. “mhm! where are your dudes at?” you eyes look around but you don’t recognize any of the faces. “they all went to go meet with their girlfriends too. i stayed here for my pretty lady.” he replies flirtatiously, a cheesy grin gracing his face. a bashful giggle rises from your chest and you look up at him, giving a small smack to his chest. “oh shut up.”
you roll your eyes playfully, but anyone would be able to tell how much you loved his teasing. with a humorous tone, he jokes, “you know you love me.” you can’t deny it, you did love him. so much that words couldn’t even describe the abundance of it. “mm, you’re right. i do.”
suddenly, everyone seems to gather in the main room. you pull out your phone to check the time and see it’s 11:58. “cmon baby, let’s go out onto the balcony.” you say to the boy in front of you. your feet bring you back to where you’d been not long before, martin’s hand in yours as he trails behind you.
you stand at the very edge, leaning on the railing. martin looms over you, hands on your hips while yours rest on his shoulders. “you look so breathtaking tonight, babe.” he whispers to you, leaning down so you could properly hear him. “thank you tini. you look dashing as well.” you return the compliment, your fingers now finding themselves laced around his neck, playing with the strands of hair on his nape.
the apartment erupts with a countdown, starting at ten and making its way down.
your lips spread wide into a gorgeous smile, counting along with martin as it nears the year of 2026.
on the last count, you gaze into martin’s glowing eyes, the both of you leaning in for a kiss. fireworks blossom into the night sky, illuminating the atmosphere around you two.
the kiss prolongs for a few seconds more before he pulls away, eyes staring into yours.
taking in the moment, time seems to stop around you two. the loud cheers from everyone around you and the boom of fireworks in the air seems to become distant. your eyes wander around martin’s beautiful face, every feature seemingly placed perfectly. his slicked back blonde hair making him look ten times finer and his stunning grin makes your knees weak.
martin can believe how absolutely ethereal you look. the glow of party lights cast a delicate shine over your hair, defining the beauty and silkiness of it. the sequins on your dress glimmer from the fireworks’ glow and the brightness coming from inside, making you look like a real life work of art. his mind couldn’t even form proper thoughts, purely stunned by your beauty.
leaning in, martin’s lips now connect with the skin of your face, planting several pecks on each of your different features. 5 on each cheek, 3 your jaw, 2 on your nose, 1 for each corner of your mouth, 1 on both of your eyelids, 5 on your forehead, and lastly, 2 big smooches on your lips. 26 kisses all for you.
an immense heat rises to your cheeks at his love and doting. a bashful smile pulls on your lips and you look away shyly, flustered by his actions. he doesn’t take offense to it though, he loves when you get shy just because of him, it shows him he’s doing something right.
“happy ‘26, ma. i love you so much.” his honey smooth voice radiates through your ears, earnest and utterly smitten, leading to a warm feeling building in your chest. with your arms around his neck and his around your waist, you rest your forehead against his and give him one more peck before replying back, “happy new years, my love. i love you more than you know.”
