read a book review where someone said "I didn't like X character so I skipped all their chapters. really wish this book had [thing present in X character's chapters]."
and.......I guess that's fine because we're all free citizens in this beautiful world, but I didn't know you could do that. I didn't know you could just skip chapters.
Skipping chapters, especially on a first read, is baffling to me. Even if it focuses on characters they don't like, there's... presumably still plot happening?

I got a message on a fanfic of mine saying that they didn't like the chapters from one character's POV so they skipped every-other chapter and then went on to complain that the story didn't make any sense and I should fix that
