While watching a DVD from the library my TV popped up a message saying to press a button if I wanted to watch this from additional providers.

It's never done that before so I looked it up and turns out Roku TVs have added all sorts of creepy things in the privacy section since I last checked.

One of which being they take screenshots from what you're watching and send them to third parties to identify it.

Fucking hell! Remember when every fucking device in your life wasn't a spy implanted in your home and working against your interests to try and sell your data? Remember how nice that was??

Remember when the TV was just a tool that would play the things you plugged into it?

i've seen this in insta via venezuelan friends' stories. a whole building collapsed after the bombardment leaving 16 families homeless. they've raised only 1.5k so far. the language barrier and how complicated things are over there make it really difficult to ask for international help for them. please consider helping out or sharing 🙏

if this convinces anyone to donate--this article documents that the bombardment hit Bloque 12 and corroborates the details in the GFM. an elderly resident named Rosa Helena González died, and another resident named Tibizay Suárez is in the hospital with serious injuries. this is such an unspeakable horror. i hope that the families can heal and rebuild their lives.

hi everyone. by now i'm sure you know about the ashour and shehab families, and how much they mean to me. i've just spoken with reem and she has told me that three of her children, sahar, mona, and yahya are all ill as diseases such as covid-19 begin to spread among gaza's children and elderly this season. think about the times you've gotten sick during cold and flu season during the winter, with access to vaccines and medicine to help you recover swiftly and safely. now imagine how much more difficult it would be to manage that sickness if you were living in a tent, exposed to the elements, with limited access to food and medical care. this is the reality sahar, mona, and yahya are facing. now imagine reem's situation, where she must care for her children under such condition. it's difficult, isn't it? this is their reality.

We are not asking for a miracle. We are asking for an apartment instead of a tent, warmth instead of cold, and a life worthy of human beings.

If Jesus is Palestinian, then let solidarity be Palestinian too action, not words.

I’ve found this comment from the author of Whipping Girl (yes, that book) to be very… relevant!

There’s also this part near the end of her essay which stood out to me concerning transandrophobia. Not only did she already say that she failed to acknowledge transmascs/men in her book (I forgot where I saw that, if anyone has a link I’d love to add it in) but she seems to actively acknowledge the mistreatment transmascs/men face!

This feels… I don’t know if ironic is the right word but it’s definitely odd that many transandrophobes cite the book Whipping Girl yet the creator is against the mistreatment of transmascs/men. Huh, some food for thought.
