Hey there, Minnesotan here.

Are you outside of Minnesota, but want to know what’s going on with the ICE occupation? Check out:

  • On Site a local independent news organization covering accurate news here.
  • Toussaint Morrison, who writes for On Site but has a lot of good coverage
  • Georgia Fort, an independent journalist covering what’s happening on the ground
  • And of course, the videos being posted directly to social media from people on the ground.

National news is not covering everything that’s happening here. (Almost like that’s on purpose.) But these are helpful, local sources to Minnesota to provide an accurate depiction of what’s really happening here.

Are you outside of Minnesota and looking to help?

These links go to those sources’ Instagram profiles. And I will edit this post with more, it’ll remain a living document.

A final note: You may have seen posts on social media about what it’s like here. Believe them. It is that bad. It is that scary. They are kicking doors down. They are demanding to see identity papers if you’re simply walking on the street.

My sister is a teacher, and they were driving around her school yesterday. A middle school.

They are offering people money to out undocumented immigrants or protest organizers. That link is a firsthand account of someone who was detained, and asked those very questions.

They are taking our neighbors.

This is an occupation.

I don’t have a lot of followers, so hoping the tags can help spread this far and wide.

Some of you think of Cops as kind of a symbolic figure representing "telling you what to do" & you're Posting things like "acab includes fandom discourse" and I thuink the 80% white website needs to remember the reason why we hate cops is because they kill people

We hate cops because they're a weapon for enforcing the state's interests through violence. Like, they kill & imprison people. The antis don't have a Quite Literal boot on your neck please god log off or talk to a Black person or something

To be SO fair like really generous there is something to be said for unlearning the habit of figuratively "policing" other people especially in the context of, like, not being a fucking snitch, "kill the cop in your head" etc etc, but can we not completely lose the plot re: what cops Are

really remarkable how many people ive seen talking about ice and theyll list out all these like Oppression Points that get you targeted (eg gay, trans, etc) and the number of [white] people who will put shit like, "looking alt" on the list but forget to mention PEOPLE OF COLOR

ICE has profiled and detained at least 5 Native people in Minneapolis in the past 2 weeks. One man has been identified and released, but the other four were unhoused and have yet to be located.

there is an initiative to ensure tribal members have ID:

made the most delectable winter soup even though it was 45f today. this too can be a prayer

The last time I played Puck, the director was a huge freak about not letting us wear shoes on stage because it would "ruin the look", but we all kept eating shit, and instead of just letting us wear skintone dance shoes or something with grip, motherfucker poured Pepsi on the floor so it'd be sticky and we had to schlorp around. I fucking hate you, David.

Why couldn't this have been a one time I dreamt

Coking the stage (mopping it with diluted soda so it's a little sticky) is a legitimate low-budget tactic for slick floors, but he just poured so much Pepsi on the floors that for about a whole week, it was audible.

Maybe the course of true love would run a little fucking smoother if we didn't have to ford your Pepsi river, DAVID.

I would just quit. Fuck people like that. It's easy to walk away

No it's not. Didn't you read the post? There was dried Pepsi everywhere.

If you want to provide culturally specific food for immigrant families in Minnesota who can’t leave their house due to ICE, Neighborhood House is partnering with El Burrito Mercado to deliver food. You can buy a gift card from El Burrito Mercado online to donate to a family. Here is how you do it:

Buy gift cards online or in person, and El Burrito Mercado will donate them directly to Neighborhood House. Neighborhood House will use these cards to purchase culturally relevant foods requested by families.
