Long story short: you know how James goes around calling himself "papa het"? Well, Lars —being the sarcastic friend he is— started to call himself "Daddy Ul", jokingly, just to mess up with him sjsjsjsjs.

And we have HARD PROOF EVIDENCE here, the screenshot I mentioned.

That pic comes from one of my fave Lars' babble: if you go to 14:20 min you can hear him say "daddy ul" while pointing at the pic.

Somewhere, inside Lars Ulrich's vault/collection/dungeon/1232 terabite hard disks, there is CLEAR AS DAY there is an absolutely shitty 720p mp4 zoom video recording of the EXACT moment where a danish voice goes "what was that?" and an absolute nonchalant guitarist replies "oh this?"

AND THAT'S THE MOMENT INAMORATA WAS CONCEIVED.

We have this, WE HAVE, I know that the archivist anxious gremlin of my heart has recorded every damn session ever on zoom BC you never know! He would record even James humming in the shower if he could get away with it bc that man is a menace and you never know!

And YET.

Do you understand how precious it is? How fucking heart palpitating, adrenaline inducing would be to SEE that, an absolute inconsequential moment in time that became the building block of one of thee most Metallica song in the last decade? Like, who the fuck would have thought that we would get another outlaw/bleeding lvl juggernaut of a song in 2023????? And we did, and we fucking know that there is a precise moment of creation for this incredibly personal and huge song, we know BC they told us ABT it, AND WE CAN'T SEE IT.

fun fact: Doro listed RTL as one of the albums that changed her life. Oh, and she also had a crush on James at that time.

And, of course, this happens when they play, when they create, okay, totally understandable, creative sync.

....but the rest of time? sjsjsnsnsns with the most random shit? Geez, these two and their rando, juggernaut intensity. They were made to be a unit.

I agree wholeheartedly (and I'll also wait for your usual top5), but I'll throw in my two penny observation.

I kept thinking that Lars does less and less press and talking etc etc. Like. It did not start in 2025 for sure, but it's a trend that really ramped up this year (and I am genuinely, maybe parasocially so) happy for him, clearly he had enough and he spent SO MANY YEARS relentlessly doing every fucking mag under the sun, so while I miss all the random stories and anecdotes from him it's all good --we still get to see him walk around at 3 am watching the deconstruction in progress like the umarell he is.

AT THE SAME TIME--- James went in the opposite direction in these last years and he "contributed" a lot more on that side of the job. This year alone he did TONSSSSS of met rep episodes, and video interviews and now even that lil xmas story!

This is not a judgement or an analysis. Just observing the facts and thinking.
