Big fan of how Hugo is capable to be be around the same level when fighting Cassandra (it’s a whole thing okay), since he’s been going off against iron women and Cass almost became one, but then has no chance against The Brotherhood, because they really were the strongest knights out there

ooooooo the idea that the brotherhood of the dark kingdom are more ruthless than the iron warriors of ingvarr is so juicy actually—it's even more fascinating combined with how they are on the opposite spectrum when it comes to cultural beliefs. The dark kingdom is very spiritual meanwhile ingvarr is very materialistic. And then there's also the preservation vs innovation aspect with these two kingdoms, really intriguing stuff

I'm also a firm believer that Hugo's a good fighter. Yall really think Donella would send that boy on missions unprepared to fend for himself when things dont go as planned?? Nahhh. Like sure, he's a quick thinker but she needs him to stay sharp mentally and physically and Hugo knows it too and he'd agree and would absolutely take her lessons even if it's a pain in the ass for him. He'll take all the useful knowledge he can learn from anything or anyone if it means it helps him survive from tight situations in the long run.

I imagine he fights like Judy Hopps, rule number one of combat: turn your enemy's strength into a weakness and use it against them ;) he fights smart even if it involves fighting dirty and he's certainly very agile, maneuvering from incoming punches and kicks because reflexes tend to sharpen when youre constantly on survival mode, which Hugo very much is.

So yeh, that blond can fight, for sure.

The whole piece is really a contrast to his situation in Queen for a Day. I wanted to show that he's on the path of healing from all that—he used to be alone, but now he doesn't have to be. He has valid reasons for fearing snow, but now he also has valid reasons not to so much anymore. He used to remember just bad memories about winter, but now he can make good ones with the new friends he's met.

The amber could easily symbolize as a cage of torment because it served as a reminder to Varian of all the awful mistakes he's made as a domino effect of that incident. And so now to see it dispersed into particles, it's like watching Varian finally breaking free from it. Finally allowing himself to make room for it, accept it, and live with it without it consuming him.

So yeh nice catch on the orange particles! Really intriguing thoughts!!
