the art of HAZARD

I'm a professional freelance artist currently located in Washington state. I mostly do paleoart as well as character designs and illustrations, digital work, costumes, sculptures, and paintings.

My therpist has been homesick and is having to be transferred to a different building, so as a goodbye present for them i made them a Marwari horse to help keep them company and safe as they continue working here in the states away from home. These horses are native to their home country so i felt it was appropriate, even gave them indian agate for eyes. I hope they like it when i see them for our last session.

The Dilophosaurus taxidermy mount is finally done! I’m so happy with the turn out even though the teeth are too long and the snout is to snubby.

Still it was a fun adventure in my first attempt at a faux taxidermy mount and using an old cardboard pizza box as the base.

My attempt at what I think a Dilophosaurus would look like. I used sea bird and diving bird colors and markings, as well as adding a throat pouch since dilo seems to be a fish eater. There is still a debate on whether Dilophosaurus was feathered or not, I would assume if it was it could be bare in some spots….we may never know.

Anyway, enjoy.

here are a few with better lightng.

I need to remake this faux mount to look more accurate and updated with the new crest findings.

Also make them not look so damn flat and boxy

Here’s a showcase vid of my new ita book bag I made myself! I wanted something that was Umamusume themed, but the bags they had available weren’t something I wanted to carry on my person so I ended up making one based on one of the characters own bags!

I love it and I can’t wait to take it out and see how well it holds everything I decide to stuff it with 💕

Here’s a link to the progress

I thought Meisho Doto’s little messanger bag was so cute and perfect to make a ita bag with it.

Thinking about materials to use for it and I feel like suede for the main part and straps would be really nice and maybe satin for the gold trim.

Her bag’s design is really inconspicuous so it would be perfect as just a carry around bag. Just need to figure how to build it and what the interior would be divided up so it’s useful. But I wanted an ita bag that wasn’t just basic or the characters faces, their cute but I want something leaning more towards what I want to represent/look cute and not just be like LOOK HORSE GIRLS(even though the interior part is gonna be just that ha)

I just wanted to share the choices in ita bags that are pretty derby themed, they’re not my thing. And there’s actual bag designs the characters have that could be made into better bags.

Like how are they sleeping on this!

Anyway I got the main materials, I’m just waiting on the liner and ribbon material to come in. The bag pieces for the shape have been cut and are ready to go. Once I get everything I can finally throw it all together and hopefully have something similar to meisho doto’s bag design.

I got the back portion done, it’s my fist time making a “normal” bag for once so don’t judge on how the pockets look, you get the idea.

Got one for my phone and whatever else and then a pin holder. Gonna have a center divider as also a tablet pocket and the two sides can have sketchbooks and whatever else.

Btw the pattern is inspired from here.

You can support the OG artist if you wanna make your own bag(they also have other cool patterns, should check out their portfolio), I’m just making this bag for myself and don’t plan to sell or do commissions of these.

In the works of sewing all the innards together along with the book divider/tablet pocket. It’s gonna be awhile before I get this done and then get to working on the outside and flap pockets/straps

It’s not gonna be perfect by any means, but it will be good and be mine

I can’t wait to fill it with sketchbooks and things

Bag is still in the works, just an update

Flap is now done

I’m nearly done, I think I finally have an idea on how the strap works, I was so confused but I think a nights sleep helped me figure it out so I get to fix that today.

I also have the strap covers to make and add and then a few adjustments here and there before I call it officially done.

Since I have a headache I’m not gonna mess with this until later. Aside from the strap covers I gotta make I’m pretty pleased. Especially for a first time normal bag not a random fish.

Some things came out not as I had planned, but I learned a lot from the experience. I’m excited to use it

My hand are sore from all the handsewing so the break is well needed

I finally have the strap covers made, I just need to sew them on. Then get the straps permanently attached and then the few fixes and adjustments here and there and it will finally be done

Gonna be doing this after I’m done

It is finally finished. While it isn’t perfect it’s still good and it’s mine! It’s my first “normal” bag and since I’m self taught in hand sewing(with a little guidance from my taxidermist) and machine sewing it’s not gonna be the best, but I am happy with it for a first attempt.

Hand sculpted the epoxy wax seal and carrot, added a few spots for accessories and had some liberty. Now to get meisho doto and horse racing related items to decorate the window.

Itabags are just fandom versions of Texas mums

If your not familiar with mums are a staple in Texas HS culture and are generally made by the mom and are decorated with various items and stuffed toys and things. The bigger the better and they can get expensive too, but it’s homecoming culture that I grew up with but never participated in like prom.

I’ll make it a bull or a boar or even a wooly mammoth next time, this is much more interesting than a tomato and strawberry(even though there’s some history behind that shape) I’m going with the more fun Victorian lvl of pin cushion as around that time ppl were making them into more fun shapes like dolls, or birds, etc. I also stuffed the pack of sawdust from the tomato into the insides of this guy

Just something different from the same ol same ol vegetable/fruit cushions. I also like how the beads for their eyes look like they’re wincing

Saddle is obviously removable, because why not. Maybe for when they’re not being a pin cushion

These were the original heads I was gonna use for my research for comparative anatomy but due to the angle and other things that were throwing me off by the time I got to the last one, I opted into finding a more straight on profile image of the skull recast to use.

I might go back over the one I used in the final and do that again where the mouth is closed at different lengths to look at the amount of lip and compare like I did above.

I even opted out of using these two head on images I did to sho the lip gap between the upper and lower mandibles in relation to the teeth

Been making paper stars cause I feel like filling this apple bottle with them

Maybe make some pipe cleaner flowers to stick in it later

I made so many that I filled a small apple jar and then I made an attempt at an oragami salmon that turned out a little fat

Decided to write yutaka take’s name on it for whatever reason

(he’s the jockey who rode Urara hoping he would have her win before inevitably losing) he also rode some famous horses like deep impact, special week, super creek, etc and even makes a cameo in umamasume somewhere
