i am so incredibly burned out
more headcanon because i said so lol
when Dust has a mentally breakdown, he is supper clingy (he needs to ground himself because his hallucinations get worse and he knows that they are not real but they are real, they are real to him)
while if Killer has his mental breakdown, he is more of an avoidant type (he doesnt want to hurt somebody, anybody, please dont touch him please dont touch him please dont pleas-)
post meltdown is opposite, Dust avoids any interactions/contacts while Killer craves physical contact and reassuring words.
sometimes when one of them breakdown when the other is burned out and doesnt have the energy to help then they would try to signal the unstable one that, "yeah, im here with you even though i am currently emotionally unavailable but that doesnt mean im gonna just let you be like that because i know i would be consumed by guilt later on if i did."
if both of them happen to breakdown at the same time then... its not really uhhh... ideal
they are not compatible while in such state and they cant just ignore their own feelings for the other, one crave contacts (to ground themselves) while the other avoid it (guilt n dont want to hurt the other).
and after the unstable phase then one is avoidant (embarrassed, guilt, self loathing v. v.) while the other needs attention (desperated, needy and to "recharge" themselves)
maybe one would try to push away their uncomfort and be there when the other needs but who knows? its a mess honestly
