The way Penelope and Odysseus both doubt their reality sometimes

Odysseus who fears that he will wake up once again on an unknown island, The prone figure in his bed with her too-soft hands and blithe smiles. The memories of his home falling through his fingers like the soft sand of the beaches.

Penelope who wonders if the figure lying next to her will be gone the moment she opens her eyes. That she will hear the raucous screams of revelry in her halls as it is torn asunder. Her hands aching and sore from endless winding and unwinding of thread.

The hold onto each other tightly at night, knowing too well how easy it is for the other to slip away.
