January 16, 1971:

Elvis Presley was named One of the Ten Outstanding Young Men of the Nation for 1970 by the United States Junior Chamber of Commerce (the Jaycees). Elvis and Priscilla attended the JCC prayer breakfast at the Memphis Holiday Inn Rivermont.

Afterwards, there was a press conference, where Elvis responded to a question about the effect of music on today’s youth. “I don’t go along with music advocating drugs and desecration of the flag. I think an entertainer is for entertaining and to make people happy.”

At 5 pm, Elvis gave a reception at Graceland for award winners and Jaycee officials, during which he conducted informal tours of the house. One hour later, Elvis and Priscilla hosted a formal dinner for 100 guests at the Four Flames Restaurant, where place cards had been embossed with the TCB logo and signed by the star.

During the 8 pm awards ceremony at Ellis Auditorium, Elvis proudly accepted an honor that clearly meant as much to him as any public recognition he had ever received. The trophy he received became one of his most treasured possessions, which he even took with him on his travels.

Elvis Presley

(January 8, 1935- August 16, 1977)

You may have left this world long ago, but your presence is infinite. Cosmic. Like waves of light traveling unfathomable distances, your voice reaches out from the past, kisses the present and redefines the future. You are stardust. You are light. You are gravity. This world is different- better- simply because you existed. Thank you, Elvis.

Happy Birthday Elvis🤍

I’m sending all my love to you on your special day. You changed the world everyday you were here on earth and you continue to do so. I’m forever grateful to get to hear your beautiful voice. I’ll put on a record of yours while I’m in my apartment and sometimes, you literally stop me in my tracks.

That beautiful voice gives me chills and makes me so happy I get to listen to you. You’re one of those special artists that can make someone believe you’re only singing to them.

I find you everywhere I go. Either close to home or far abroad, you’re not too far behind and I love that reminder. Like a little angel on my shoulder, coming along for the adventure.

Thank you for the music, the laughs, my wonderful Ashykinz you’ve given me to go on adventures with, all of it.

I’ll continue to love you endlessly 🤍

January 3, 1967:

For a little while now, horses were very popular with Elvis and the boys. They only rented out the Memphian for movies four times this month. Almost everything had to do with horseback riding these days. During the next two weeks, Elvis would not only purchase his own favorite horse, which he renamed Rising Sun, but he also bought a horse for his father.

Do you ever just get heavy waves of emotion for Elvis out of nowhere?

🥺 This! Ugh I don’t understand how this happens either but oof it hits so hard!🫂 It just reminds me how much he means to me. It makes me remember how lucky we are to get to see his amazingness after all these years and still be in awe. There’s no one else that can make me smile like a giddy little kid and get teary in a matter of seconds.

I think these little blips of emotion is his way of reminding us he’s around and showing appreciation for caring about him so much.💞

He could pick better timing though😝
