Jonathan Sims as Greek Mythology figures

s1 Jon as Galatea. molded in the shape of the web's ideal Archivist. custom made to serve a specific purpose. Idealized. Brought into this world to fill a role he never signed up for.

s2 Jon as Cassandra. constantly saying doomed prophesies that no one believes or listens to. knows and recognizes dangers that everyone shuns him for worrying about.

s3 Jon as Icarus. flying too close to the sun. his desire to know driving him closer to things that burn him.

or as Orpheus. the ONE THING that could save him is if he looks away. he's not a full-fledged avatar yet. but he keeps looking anyway.

s4 Jon as Heracles. completing a checklist of horrors to deal with for the approval of supernatural forces. although he's unaware of it, he's doing such a great job.

(end of s4 Jon as Oedipus. "I WILL AVOID THE PROPHESY!!" he says, as he goes and walks straight into the prophesy. doesn't gouge his eyes out, but tragically that would have been a better option)

mag 160 Jon as Pandora. opens the box door that unleashes the horrors into the world. shaped and molded by beings more powerful than him SPECIFICALLY to serve that purpose, yet used as a cautionary tale against unchecked curiosity. even though curiosity wasn't the thing that got everyone into this mess. beings more powerful than him set him up to do this from the start.

s5 Jon as Echo. spends the entire season with the eye's words spoken from his own mouth. has almost no words of his own anymore. before this he was only reading statements when he'd chose to, but now his mouth is out for rent and the eye is a very active tenant.

when jon pushes away the woman in the spiral domain. I see it as him not trusting himself around people experiencing extreme fear.

he has to actively force himself out of scenarios where he may be tempted to take statements. Being in such close proximity with someone who's Actively Suffering is a scenario that would trigger Danger!! Walk AWAY!! in his head. Gotta get outta there before you start taking statements. I don't blame him whatsoever for choosing not to interact more than necessary.

jon looks a lot like his father and his grandmother is deeply bitter about it because it feels like the universe is trying to replace her son with him. alternatively he looks a lot like his mother and his grandmother hates it because it feels like the universe is erasing her son. either way jon can’t fucking win

jon. who looks SO MUCH like his mother and NOTHING AT ALL like his father.

his grandmother. who doesn't want to raise a child.

his grandma, who the local courts are trying to assign custody to, demanding a dna test before she'll be willing to take her son's WIFE'S kid in.

jon, the precocious child who knows and understands and accepts why.

and of course he is his father's child. but maybe it would have been better if he wasn't. deep down his grandmother wished he wasn't. he knows she wished he wasn't. and deep down, maybe he wished he wasn't too. maybe he thinks that if he wasn't, he wouldn't have to be a burden on her. he knows he's a difficult child. a difficult, deeply annoying child.

if the supernatural can't be recorded digitally. and the web can manifest tape recorders as a means of progressing its goals. then the eye should be able to manifest its own non-digital tech to advance itself. I'm thinking 1900s microphones.

Imagine how powerful an archivist could be if he could project his voice.

reverse panopticon where instead of the guy in the center doing the watching, it's everyone else who's watching him. one way glass on the cells, but it's one way in favor of the prisoners. rise up and start tormenting the watcher by watching him. cmon. power in numbers. you all could haunt him so hard.

that is EXACTLY how the eye goes about it. it's having such a great time. making custom-made torture domains is so fun,, why shouldn't it have the absolute BEST time with it? :)
