LABYRINTH ARC ANIMATIC/ANIMATION
HELLO EVERYONE i am SO sorry that i left you all on a cliffhanger for like. 2 months after dropping that i had this and made no further updates after i made that poll about it BUT ANYWAY! I'M NOT GONNA KEEP YOU WAITING ANY LONGER. here's that fabled animation I talked about all those months! i'll ramble about details and whatnot after.
WARNING IT MIGHT BE A BIT LOUD. flipaclip made the audio a bit loud i fear
THAT'S THE ANIMATION! if you don't feel like reading analysis you can just skip on past this; otherwise get ready to read a lot of things!

first things first, sorry that it ended abruptly ^^'' the reason why I postponed posting this for a hot minute was because I wanted to see if i could get more of it done if i ever felt like it (and surprise surprise, i never felt like it), and i felt bad making everyone who read the original post where i mentioned this wait longer, so i just ended up thinking "eh, lets just post it now". this animation was started in 2024! I think after or somewhere during april of that year... I stopped working on it when fall hit.. a majority of this animation is also low effort (mainly because i wanted to not give in to the pressure of making this look perfect. yknow, i actually did want to finish it at some point) and i did animate all of this with my finger on mobile! i unfortunately did not have a decent working stylus so working on this felt like FOREVER.
SECOND THINGS SECOND: there are a handful of discrepancies (? is that how you spell that ? i could just say mistakes) in it which i will now list for you because i love sharing fun facts

ERROR HOUR!
THIS FRAME! i do realize that i cut out a handful of stuff that happened in the beginning of the labyrinth arc (for instance, boris getting stuck on the same floor of the school after going up/down a handful of stairs). i really just didnt know how to incorporate it with the audio considering all the stuff i did want to add into this so I kind of mashed some of the events together. if i recall correctly the chair thing happens a bit later, but i decided to throw that in right after writing on the board since i thought it'd be a cool transition
NOW THIS ONE! i animated this scene before rereading this chapter of IM, and once i realized that boris opened the window and did not in fact smash it in, a little tinge of regret settled within me. regardless, i thought "hey, it still looks cool, might as well keep it in" (and also, i did not feel like redoing that scene LOL)
NOW THIS ONE!!! this is where the animation starts to appear unfinished LOL the creature of the labyrinth was actually supposed to show up in this scene; this was the scene where boris got the book and then subsequently got attacked by The Creature (of which i unfortunately do not remember the name of because it's been a solid year since i've read the labyrinth arc). I ended up never adding it here because, truth be told, i didnt feel like finding the one reference image for it that was posted at the end of one of the chapters that i couldn't remember the name to X(
FINALLY THIS ONE!! i actually reread the chapter at this point, when i was making this scene, and i realized that there actually wasn't a good way to portray boris getting almost mauled by The Creature so i kind of just? cut it? i kind of hoped that it would be insinuated with the way that the camera would pan over to The Creature then cut to boris opening his eyes
A FEW MORE MISTAKES FOR FUN - I realized that I didn't add boris' bag until i got to the 45 second mark. and i do not want to redo all of those scenes again. - i didn't realize the watch that they had was one of those pocket watches until i re-read it! which is why that swing scene has the wrong kind of watch (it was actually the first scene i animated in the entire thing)

WOW THIS IS. a long post. compiling all this information after 2 years feels incredibly strange! and it's making me kind of miss working on this... i remember the vague ideas i had for it because i WAS planning to animate the ENTIRE song. though looking back at that it might have been a little ambitious to think that. i still remember what scene i was going to portray for what lyric, despite the fact that the majority of the frames are blank.
anyway, after posting this, who knows? maybe i'll work on it again someday. though, i'd definitely have to reread the labyrinth arc so i accurately remember what happened where LOL maybe i'll make another post about this animation? i might have a few more things to say about it that i cant recall as of right now so whenever i remember i'll probably make another post !

WAAAUUGHH THANK!! YOU!!!!! SO MUCH <:'D SYNCING IT WAS IN FACT DIFFICULT (my headphones made the audio desync from the animation by like. half of a second and i didnt realize till like halfway through working this but i managed to tweak it enough i think)
