[this post is written in german and about a german gay activist that died recently. if you don't understand german but would be interested in the topic anyway, feel free to let me know. I can translate, I'm just not sure if there's any interest in a translation to begin with]

Guys if you want queer shit written by queers on our own terms you're going to have to start seeking out weird independent media. I'm sorry that's the only place you can regularly find it idk what to tell you, we can't keep acting like there's nothing if we're not getting blockbusters and triple A titles or whatever it is we're waiting around for. The thing you keep saying you want is already being offered for free by one person making a passion project on the internet and you would both benefit enormously if you interacted with it instead of lamenting that the only options we have for representation are pandering afterthoughts from corporate shit

I say this with so, so much care: Real queer shit written by real queers can and will sometimes make you uncomfortable. That's one of the defining features of weird, independent queer media. And weird independent media more broadly. Art that comes from true individual passion and authenticity has edges and bite to it that mass market corporate products intentionally do not. Has a rawness that can offend.

You are allowed to feel uncomfortable about it. But don't ask for queers to self censor for your comfort.

thinking again about mp100 as an autism allegory again. thinking about how mob clearly demonstrates low empathy but has high levels of compassion, and how important that is for him as a character and to low-empathy people who love the story

like. the LOL cult arc clearly demonstrates that he almost never mirrors or “feels” others’ emotions, even when doing so would benefit him. he feels like he’s a bad person, deeply so, and his rigidity about not using psychic powers on other people is often the only thing that he feels redeems him at all. (which is also extremely autistic of him.)

and yet - AND YET - he chooses, consistently, to be kind. he has to consciously think about being kind, to “pick up things that are important” to him, but he does it anyway. he cares about others, even when he can’t feel what they’re feeling. because he’s a good person. and that’s a pretty great depiction of what being a low-empathy autistic person is like.

your friends love you, your brain is just mean

[ID: Guy who stands in corner of party meme, but the guy standing in the corner is erased. Other dancing party attenders are frowning. They say “that guy who stands in the corner isnt here today.” “oh i hope he’s alright.” “the party just doesn’t feel right without him :( .”

disco elysium's like...it's a tragedy, it's a comedy, it's a police procedural, it's a parody of a police procedural, it's a romance, it's a manifesto, it's a psychological portrait, it's a novel, it's a video game, it's a movie, it's a poem, it's a painting, the future is bright, the future is bleak, the future is nonexistent, the past will hold you close, the past will eat you alive, the past is the future is the past is the future

My “draw the squad” memes so far

Pinterest is one of the reasons why I’m broke

Speaking of broke, my newest ref folder’s full of new DTS doodles is out NOW!

In hindsight being a “gifted kid” is so funny. You have substantial difficulties with socializing and fine motor skills but we’re going to ignore that because you’re really good at reading chapter books

We don't need to raise this one because it can read novels.

My programmer buddy made me laugh and our sound designer whipped his head around from behind us and said “That was one of the nicest laughs I’ve ever heard.”

Hands down one of the best compliments I’ve ever gotten.

I still think about this compliment. A man whose whole profession is sounds was so excited to tell me how nice my laugh was. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed that perfectly since but man what a nice thing to tell someone.
