I have a gen X coworker who uses AI for everything. Everything. I watched her use it to generate an answer to an email from a parent asking if she could accommodate a child with disabilities in her program. When I told her that I, personally, would be offended if she used AI to write an email to me, she was surprised. She could not understand why.
My mom got me an "AI birdfeeder" that sends photos of birds to your phone and tries to identify them. Putting aside the fact that I am not going to give my wifi password and photos of my street to a spyware app--why would I want a computer to identify birds for me? My mom got me this gift because she knows I enjoy identifying birds. Do people want AI to eat their food and fuck their wives for them too?
So very often when Europeans make fun of the USA for its abhorrent political and social issues it is not done out of compassion or care for the people affected by those issues it is done entirely out of arrogance and self-righteousness, it is done to brag about how much better we are than the USA, and many Europeans seem to be glad that people in the USA are suffering because it makes them feel superior and validates their euro-supremacist beliefs. The average European could not care less about the well-being of oppressed people in the USA, their contempt for american right-wing politics is performative and hypocritical. They go online to call all USAmericans idiots for voting for Trump then walk into their own voting booths to elect a Nazi party
>see bird creeping up and down a tree trunk >look it up >common treecreeper

Whole books have been written about this since the end of americas involvement in Vietnam. That's why there are so many action heroes whose wives or children are dead. If you have a family you have to be part of a community, but if you're freed of those responsibilities you can be an eternal child who can kill endlessly with no consequences. Once you recognize it, you see it in everything. Cool grizzled divorced antihero who plays by his own rules and lives outside the law doesn't have to put the seat down or remember anyone's birthday grrr rough 'n tough creampuffs
Hey, baby heron is trying its best okay?
