she/her, late 20s

god firefly had it all. the soundtrack. the way every costume looks like it was pulled straight from a goodwill. zoe and mal's whole deal. the terrible chinese pronunciation. sex work being the most respectable and unionized profession of the lot. spaceship cargo hold full of cattle. "shiny." teenage girl with mysterious unexplained psychic powers. old traveling preacher with a mysterious unexplained past. chekov's compression coil. "pretty spry for a dead fella." wash's slutty little hawaiian shirts. kaylee and inarra's whole deal. mark sheppard is there.

I love "never kill yourself!!!" as a declaration about good news like. However it comes with the unshakeable curse of "not suitable for all group situations."

Our favorite lunch spot near the office is coming back after it closed last year and never kill y--never k--neve--yay 🙂🎉 yay fellow coworkers 🙂🎉yay my fellow coworkers I work with 🙂🎉yay Teams chat

the last 25 years have been simply fucking bananas on an everyday tech level and it’s so visible when you watch pre-smartphone movies. like scenes of secondhand embarrassment with no cameras held up.. secrets and emergencies and miscommunications when no one was reachable or tracked all the time.. what have we done !!

THE advantage of memorizing poetry is that when somethings happening, maybe even you’re in a situation or a location, you can just go “ok. lady of shallott time” and boom. you reclaimed your mental space and attention for YOU for the next ten minutes

Everyone should be able to do one card trick, tell two jokes, and recite three poems, in case they are ever trapped in an elevator.

Lemony Snicket, Horseradish

i know this is humorous but! i learned from one of my college friends (who learned from a therapist) that reciting a poem you have memorized is a great grounding & focusing technique when you’re spiraling into anxiety or panic. i can personally attest that The Tyger has staved off several panic attacks.

so like if said “situation or location” is freaking you out really badly, “lady of shallott time” can help reclaim your mental health too

when I was like 14 I used to reblog these posts on here that were like "YOUR 20S ARE NOT AN IMAGINARY RACE YOURE DOING JUST FINE!!" just to be positive towards my older mutuals even though i didn't really get what they were about and I'd be in the tags like "#so true!! #everyone does things at their own pace!!" and now im 24 I'm thinking back to it and it's like Oh of course the imaginary race. Which im losing

changing my mindset from “if I don’t keep my home clean i’m a useless horrible failure” to “i deserve to live in a comfortable, clean environment, so i will do my best to provide myself with that” has been fairly life changing

and it applies to so much!!!! i try to take whatever i’m beating myself up over, like “i haven’t been eating enough veggies lately so i suck as a human,” and instead reframe it as “my body deserves all the important nutrients found in vegetables” and suddenly i’m ten billion times more inclined to actually prioritize eating more veggies

shame is a paralytic!!!!! self compassion is an actual motivator!!!!!

Each Benoit Blanc film takes place in a different season and classic murder mystery setting.

Knives Out: Autumn in a country house

Glass Onion: Summer on a private island

Wake up Dead Man: Spring in a small town

So the next film in the cycle needs to be set in winter on a mode of transportation.

The people yearn for Murder on the Orient Express
