I am trying very hard not to be annoying about it.

Would I have liked for Ewan to play Hindley? Sure. He has the acting chops to absolutely stomp that role and make it his own. However, for the story that Emerald is attempting to tell, Hindley is not a character that fits. Also, I don't know how the leap from "Ewan is too young to play Margot's older brother" to "Ewan is playing this incredibly old man" even makes sense, but there we are.

I cannot name a single heartbreaking thing that occurs to his character in the book, and am wracking my brains thinking how they are going to portray that with the 90 seconds of screentime he will have.

Perhaps Catherine goes with him to a tavern, and when he goes to the privy she joins Heathcliff's table and says she's there alone, leaving Joseph to do a sad little wave in the background before leaving.

Yeah, that didn't sit right with me at all.
