About Vox in "Hazbin Hotel" S2

I appreciated the season 2 of the show, despite the flaws. But I think Vox, during the flashback with Alastor, is out of character.

Later in the season Vox is depicted as an asshole who would do anything to get to the top. He did not care about others and he killed people to take their place. He also is a manipulator because he became one of the most powerful overlords in Hell and once was the leader of a cult.

But in that flashback he is way too naive and he genuinely wants to become partner/friend with Alastor.

I appreciate that they wanted to give him nuances since people are complex, but there, he was out of character.

Here some alternative ideas to make his character work better in my opinion.

1) Vox = Alastor

Vox is a manipulator who does not care about anyone or anything: during his life he killed people to reach the top, but died in a accident. In Hell he has the same purpose and Alastor is a menace to his power. He tries to manipulate him and make a deal using words and charisma. Since Alastor is a manipulator too, he knows Vox is lying and he mocks him. Vox reveals his true colours and gets mad.

In this version Vox is just like Alastor, but more pathetic.

2) Vincent becomes evil

This version is inspired by Buddy Pines from "The Incredibles".

Vincent during his life was not an evil man. He still committed some minor sins, but he was not evil and his dream was working with famous people on TV. He dies before realising it, in an accident while working.

When he goes to Hell, he meets Alastor and Al to him is a guide. He tries to become his friend/partner and genuinely cares. But Alastor doesn't care and starts mocking him.

Vox feels betrayed and ashamed and due to this trauma, he becomes evil. He still cares about Alastor and spends all of his energy proving he is better than him.

This would still give him more complexity and depth, showing how a trauma can change a person, but would not excuse it. Having a trauma doesn't give you the right to harm others. It also makes the scene where he cries when destroys Pentagram City more intense.

I made an illustration for every song of "The Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance.

For The Patient, I chose to draw him similar to the character portrayed in "Welcome To The Black Parade" music video (where the actor who plays him is Lukas Haas).
