The first thought Clark has as he blinks up at the indifferent gray concrete of the ceiling above him is that there must be kryptonite somewhere in the room. His head is splitting, a sharp stabbing pain behind his eyes; his ribs ache, and there’s a dull throb in his left knee.
Look. Look I’m not reading as much fanfic as I used to.
But in case any young people out there need to hear this- it is very normal for gay people to just. take turns. For a lot of the stuff. That some of you. Seem to think are static, binariatic, opposing personality traits.

superbat thoughts? (not just romantic, anything)
i really truly believe they’re more ideologically similar figures to each other than they are antithetical and resultantly that idea of them being the resident light and dark of the dcu is just.. so shallow and harmful to me lol. like sure the home based rogues and contexts they’re addressing are somewhat different but ultimately bruce and clark are both idealists. clark is buoyed by the idea that even when you have so much power in your hands you can still choose to do the simple good and look out for the common man bc it’s the principled thing. bruce is buoyed by the idea that no matter how debilitated a city or person becomes there is still some hope for things to be better and for change to be possible bc it’s the principled thing. that’s why they’re friends. bc they believe intrinsically in the power of humanity, despite being such seemingly different figures (a superpowered alien versus a superhero with no powers at all). they trust each other to always have doing the right thing in mind even if mistakes are made along the way. they’re characters defined by hope and compassion and i wish writers would remember that they had entire runs dedicated to their friendship in the pre crisis era and how much they relied on and helped each other bc they knew they were fighting for the same thing!
i hate superbat as much as the next guy. would love to hear ur thoughts abt it, if u feel like sharing
i absolutely adore reading ur analyses nd opinions, even when i don't fully agree w them. ur just so articulate nd insightful it's a real delight to peruse ur posts, esp ur to be deleted ones
oh i don't hate superbat at all actually! i'm moreso not a fan of how it's portrayed in post-crisis because it feels reductive as to bruce and clark's personalities. they have (or should have) a much more balanced relationship with each other than people like to allege and there is more they can relate to each other on than not, but they also compliment each other in other ways. they're good friends because they share ideals and a common goal, but they diverge in terms of human experience because clark's background lends itself to his neuroticism and loneliness, and bruce's background lends itself to his sociability and easier sense of control. i think it would be equally as reductive to say they classically operated in a way opposite to how they're portrayed today but that's some of it in a sense. clark is overwhelmingly aware of his magnanimity and alienage in comparison to everyone else so he has to work towards controlling his excessive anxiety and guilt, whereas bruce starts out with a very well-defined vision and methodology for what he wants to do about his city and the people in it but steadily loses belief in himself because of his own fallibility and the impact of his actions on others. so it's not to say modern conceptions are necessarily outside of the realm of possibility, it's more like.. the framing for them is wrong. clark shouldn't be a lifeline to bruce because he's uniquely good or idealistic or whatever else that's basic that is associated with him. he should be a lifeline to bruce because bruce believed in him and that means something to him because bruce is his friend

- Finish at least 5 established WIPs from before September 2025 (I have a giant backlist to get through)
- Finish my Blue's Clue's Blue ears :3
- Write the COMPLETE FIRST DRAFT of one (1) long fic
- Write, finish, and post a 10k minimum fic
- Finish at least one Star Trek fic
- Get three (3) characters that AREN'T Bruce or Clark in at least three (3) total fics (currently, clark and bruce are both in 13 of my fics and anyone else only has one........ lol)

Do you love Superman (2025) and the characters and world it introduced? Then this is the event for you! Hello, and welcome to the Superman (2025) Character Celebration!
This event will run from January to June, with a series of prompts for each month - you don't have to follow any of the prompts, but they are there as inspiration if you need it. They can be interpreted as vaguely or strictly as you wish.

isnt it interesting how lesbians who are into media with male-dominated casts and are deeply invested in platonic or romantic/sexual relationships between male characters are really not any kind of rarity or outlier. but anyone other than lesbians or bi women being really into media with female-dominated casts and being deeply invested in platonic or romantic/sexual relationships between female characters is a rarity or an outlier. it is almost like there are some sort of structural forces that make mens' stories and feelings a matter of public interest and womens' stories and feelings an afterthought. probably not though i guess it's just an inexplicable result of completely legitimate personal taste that is above critique. oh well.

Reign of the Supermen + Return of Superman:
It's his introduction to comics and establishes who he is and why he stepped up to be a superhero when Clark died. These are collected as a trade and easy to find!
Steel (1994)
John Henry's solo!!! runs for 52 issues + an issue 0 during the Zero Hour event. Introduces the rest of the Irons fam, including Natasha, his various motivations and villains, and allies such as Miles Duncan.
Worlds Collide Crossover:
Occurs around Issue 6 or so of Steel 1994; John Henry plays a critical role in creating the technology to fix the issue.
Trial of Superman Arc:
Fun Superman adventure that John Henry plays a starring role in. Team Superman 1999:
Superfam team up comic!
Superman: The Man of Steel Issues #98-#134:
After Steel (1994) ended, John Henry and Natasha shifted over to this Superman comic and it is VERY GOOD.
Our Worlds At War Event:
This event is gigantic but very good for Superfam and Wonders things, and that includes John Henry. There's a critical plot point that happens here that is soooo juicy and fascinating and sets up the main conflict of Superman: The Man of Steel from #116 or so onwards to the end.
Superman VS Darkseid: Apokolips Now!:
Probably one of the best Superfam comics ever written. Wraps up the end of Superman: The Man of Steel.
New Krypton:
While John Henry doesn't play an incredibly large role in this event, his appearances in it are very good!
