Netherlands-based artist Redmer Hoekstra draws fascinating composite illustrations that merge people and animals with everyday objects or machines.

"How things work is a fascination of mine and in many drawings you can find this. I open up appliances and objects freely and change what is inside. I play with form, meaning and function, while new combinations arise. Often a subject gets a completely different feeling or meaning that is strange and funny with a child’s logic in a fantastic, surreal world."

Hoekstra’s work is inspired by Escher, Topor, Michel Gondry, and Hayao Myazaki.
