On this day in 2018, we started life as a little hashtag game. I didn't think we'd play it more than a few times, and certainly didn't imagine we'd still be going eight years later. To everyone who has been part of this journey, thank you for being here.

I don't know about you, but I can't believe it's time to post this list again. Like in the past, questions focus on what you created and how you felt this year.

Two ways to play: Reblog and have your followers send you numbers, or answer the whole list!

  1. Including WIPs, how many fics have you worked on since January 1st? Original fiction counts too!
  2. How many did you post for other people to read?
  3. What's something NEW that you tried in a fic?
  4. What piece of media inspired you the most?
  5. How many fandoms did you write for?
  6. What ship(s) captured your heart?
  7. What character(s) captured your heart?
  8. Did you write for any new fandoms or ships?
  9. What fic meant the most to you to write?
  10. What fic made you feel the happiest to work on?
  11. What fic was the most satisfying to finish?
  12. What fic was the most challenging to work on?
  13. What's the most interesting topic you researched for a fic?
  14. What were your shortest and longest fics?
  15. What was on your writing playlist?
  16. Where did you write? Was there a favorite spot?
  17. What’s your favorite title of the year?
  18. Share your favorite opening line
  19. Share your favorite ending line
  20. Share your favorite piece of dialogue
  21. Share the funniest line(s) you wrote this year
  22. Did you get frustrated with a fic at some point? What happened and how did you get past it?
  23. If you had to choose one, what was THE most satisfying writing moment of your year?
  24. Did you do anything special to celebrate finishing something?
  25. Did you create fanworks other than fic? Show one off!
  26. How many fannish events did you take part in? Things like bangs, exchanges, ship weeks, zines, prompt memes, etc. They all count!
  27. Think back on everything you've worked on since January and give yourself a compliment. A real one! Be nice to yourself.
  28. If this were an awards show, who would you thank?
  29. What’s left on your to-do list for 2025?
  30. What would you like to write next year?

As 2025 comes to a close and the new year looms on the horizon, many people often reflect on their own growth and change. Unless you're a fanfic writer and then you can make your characters do it for you! Join us in creating a Kirk/Spock fanwork that focuses on the theme of growth or change.

This challenge is hosted entirely on Dreamwidth.

I forgot to share this here earlier in the month! As some of you know, I occasionally do some fandom-specific stuff. The T'hy'la is a Trek event series that actually predates ficwip (and is, in a way, its parent) but now operates under the umbrella, since it's much easier for me to balance things that way!

Anyway, for fun & games, we moved the T'hy'la over to Dreamwidth for an exclusive series, because why not! I love trying new things. If you're a Kirk/Spock shipper (or K/S curious), we welcome you with open arms.

And speaking of Dreamwidth, ficwip is there too with the word game, and we'll probably do some exclusive stuff in the space next year. And we've got an interactive community called The Coffee Shop!
