at the end of assassins quest, there’s the clear parallel between fitz and chivalry with both of them dealing with a complicated situation by choosing to leave their child to burrich’s care because they believe that’s what’s best for their kid. fitz acknowledges to the reader: “in that, i am truly my father’s son.” but there is also the parallel between fitz and his mother both being forced to give up their son due to a family member. with fitz’s mother, it was her father that took away her choice to keep her child for the family’s and her own welfare. with fitz, it was his uncle that gave him no choice in the making nor the keeping of his child for the welfare of the kingdom. like his mother, fitz has his autonomy over the option to raise his child as his own taken from him. he cannot acknowledge it; but, in that, fitz is truly his mother’s son.

i don’t comment often on tiktok (or really at all) but my most liked comment is me saying “there were definitelyyy queer implications between chivalry and burrich” on a rote tiktok (shoutout to the 121 and counting chivburr truthers) and someone really replied to me saying “are we reading the same book? can men not be friends?” LMAOOOO anyways sometimes i giggle at that

considering that rote is a book series that has animal magic where people take on characteristics of their animal companion, people that refer to children as pups starting from the first chapter, and the main character is bonded to a wolf with a barely concealed breeding kink, i was truly surprised to find zero omegaverse fics on ao3 like this world is perfect for a/b/o dynamics

fitzchivalry farseer is an immigrant and that means a lot to me :)
