There’s a moment in the au where Grian challenges Scar. After months and months of chasing each other, dancing around their feelings, Scar is still pretending like he’s not head over heels for him. It’s driving Grian up the wall, and he’s tired of leaving empty handed.

The challenge was a test of Scar’s courage and intentions. Grian wouldn’t kiss him anymore, not unless Scar initiated it first. He wanted the hunter to truly want him, not just chase a kiss because he was caught up in the moment.

This causes a stalemate between them for another long, excruciating month where Scar lay awake every night going over conversations in his head. He had to get this right. There was no other way to put it.

He needed Grian like he needed oxygen, and it made his heart stammer.

When they see each other again, Scar doesn’t hesitate when he barrels toward him, securing his well-earned prize.

“When Scar fell, so did the first drop of rain.”

The moment he died, the desert was brought to life for the first time since the beginning.

The smell of petrichor had never brought a more bittersweet sense of relief, nor a heavier sadness.”
