Described in the journal Cell, the antivenom combines protective antibodies and a small molecule inhibitor and opens a path toward a universal antiserum.

Ok, that’s fucking wild.

This guy Tim Friede wasn’t any kind of researcher or doctor. He was just a snake collector who thought it would be cool to try and become immune to snake venom by injecting small amounts and working up. For 18 goddamn years. He nearly died at least once.

Later, actual scientists heard about him and realized that since he survived his blood must be full of antibodies that neutralize many kinds of snake venoms. Using a sample of his blood they were able to develop an antibody cocktail that seems to be effective against many types of tropical snake bites, a sort of universal antivenom.

Absolute mad lad benefiting humanity.

Same, I’m TME and we were mutuals and I sent her an ask which she answered like a few hours before she got termed and I’ve had absolutely no word from any of those assholes. They don’t care about any of this except trying to kill trans women.

thirding this to say I (tme) was also openly mutuals with her and never received even 10% of the shit she got and we often reblogged the same posts from each other. she would always get the asks and TERFs in her notes calling her a pedophile, rapist male etc and I would maybe get an anon once a month calling me cis

Late to this but fourthing it. TME, have been mutuals with her for months. I have never once been harassed. I miss her and I hate what those people did to her.
