My Brain Clusters

@generalreviewcollective

Just as a warning my tastes in media are weird some of my favourite media are (Wolf Hall, My Policeman, Knives out trilogy, Star Trek Original series and DS9, Black Sails, Father Brown early seasons, Soviet Sherlock Holme and Doctor Watson, Guy Richie Sherlock Movies, Hetalia, Saiki K, Six the Musical, And Then There Were None, Cherry Magic, Gotham Season 2 and Charite at War) He/Him

Update to my if the Holmes and Watson pairs were to meet.

The meeting is taking place at Rathbone and Bruce’s 221 Bakery Street because their seating room is one of the biggest, it was either theirs or RDJ’s however the RDJ’s seating room is never clean enough.

Rathbone’s Holmes and the Granada Watsons are handling the tea.

All the Watson’s at some point (probably after all the therapy) start telling the plot of their episodes/movies to one another in their own unique ways whilst occasionally criticising each other’s storytelling but in a gentle way. Freeman’s Watson keeps telling stories where he ends up getting kidnapped or almost killed which freaks the other Watsons out. Law’s Watson tells his stories with pure sass. The Granada Watsons are having fun ranting at each other about Brett’s Holmes. Solomin’s Watson has brought his drawings to show people.

The Holmes have ended up in a laboratory and are creating complete mess, getting into competition with one another to test certain theories. The Lestrade’s (such as BBC’s Rupert Graves’s Lestrade and Granada’s Colin Jeavons’s Lestrade) who turned up a few hours ago are left to supervise this which basically means to stop mass destruction (it’s going badly).

BBC, Granada and Soviet all adapted The Empty House. Out of the three the best is Soviet because they maintained the detective element whilst focusing the story around the grief of Watson. Solomon’s acting in the episode is amazing, you feel the grief, the violin scene. Only problem with the episode is that you want to punch Lestrade in the face. BBC fucked up the episode by having the Anderson stuff, the scene where Sherlock lies about the bomb being still active and the sudden attempted burning of John. Granada did not focus on the grief at all, complete shame, by not show or exploring the grief the relationship between Holmes and Watson feels less meaningful however I’m pretty sure this is a problem with the source material .

When adapting Sherlock Holmes I believe changes are great if they enhance the characters, relationship and story. Putting more grief into The Empty House works better.

If the different Holmes and Watsons were to meet I imagine that RDJ and Cumberbatch’s Holmes would be really jealous that Brett’s Holmes gets two Watsons and neither ever marry a woman. They would be really petty to their Watsons about it like ‘see he can do it why can’t you’. RDJ’s Holmes and Law’s Watson would get in a big fight about it and the other Watsons would try to put an end to the fighting but in the end Soviet Holmes and Watson would give RJD’s Holmes and Law’s Watson a couple’s therapy session ending with RDJ and Law’s Holmes and Watson finally admitting their feelings. Whilst Freeman’s Watson gets really weird about the gayness so Solomon’s and Granada Watsons have to get him to deal with his insecurities around his sexuality which turns into Freeman’s Watson letting out all his trauma including telling everyone about how much of a toxic partner Cumberbatch’s Holmes is. As a result some of the Holmes realise their own toxic behaviours towards their Watsons and then get really moody about it which the Granada Watsons roll their eyes about because they know they now have to cheer up Holmes. Cushing’s, Cumberbatch’s and Brett’s Holmes all get into a fight because of their moods. However Blakely’s Watson is encouraging the homophobia and saying Freeman’s Watson has nothing he should deal with but Stephen’s Holmes is clapping for RDJ’s Holmes and Law’s Watson believing this means he can be open to. Whilst all this is happening Bruce’s Watson is oblivious amused in a newspaper, Rathbone’s Holmes get up off Bruce’s Watson lap and goes to help the Granada Watson’s deal with the moody Holmes, Howard’s Holmes is encouraging the chaos and getting into heated arguments much to the annoyance of Crawford’s Watson. The few sane people decide they need extra help because of all the chaos however they don’t want to trouble Mrs Hudson who is on holiday so instead they ring up Lestrade hoping at least he can provide man power.

Does anyone else have any thoughts?

I wish a mainstream live action adaptation would be brave enough to fully explore themes of queerness within Sherlock Holmes, yes there are independent works that are great (such as Bee Keepers Picnic) however they remain in obscurity with the larger public, a mainstream adaptation would be great. Readings/head cannons of Sherlock and/or Watson as queer are treated as lesser than by the wider audience, a mainstream adaptation would make the concept of queer Sherlock more accepted. Most mainstream versions imply queerness but as a joke (BBC Sherlock), need to give both Watson and Sherlock a female love interest (Soviet and Guy Richie) or are cannot make it explicit (Private Life of Sherlock Holmes).

Granada is interesting to me because it both refused to have Watson get married and has Holmes and Watson spend the rest of their lives together but also took out moments of physical affecrion between the two when adaptation scenes from the original stories and changed scenes to be less sweet such as in The Dying Detective and The Devils Foot but despite that they maintain this soft affection between the two.

New hyper fixation is Sherlock. The best adaptation is Soviet Sherlock, Watson is very gay in the series like he really wants to kiss Sherlock, love it. Other good Sherlock adaptation are Granada (my favourite is Burke Watson because he matches Brett Sherlock’s energy but Hardwicke is so nice), Guy Richie movies (love Jude Law as an actor he is my second favourite Watson, Solomon is my favourite), Peter Crushing’s Blue Carbuncle (the way he misses Watson, so cute), and Murder By Degree.

I love it when Holmes is just nice and chaotic. Hate it when Holmes is mean to Watson or in love with a woman. Holmes is an ace gay with autism. Basil Rathborne’s Holmes is ace with a husband, RJD’s Holmes is bi and deeply in love with Watson, Benedict’s Holmes is ace gay and Brett’s is just queer. Allow Holmes and Watson to be really queer. I wish for a version where Holmes is canonically asexual and autistic.

Watson is at his best when given personality. My favourite Watsons are Solomon from Soviet Sherlock, Jude Law from Guy Richie and David Burke from Granada. I use Granada instead of Brett Sherlock because I feel using Brett to describe the series undermines the Watson actors (both are really good like Hardwicke’s is mature and intelligent and Burke’s is friendly and very reactive in his expressions).

I’ve been trying to watch all Sherlock Holmes media i can. I really hate the racism, antisemitism and treatment of the Romani in Sherlock Holmes media, especially the original stories. It is why I can’t enjoy the Sign of Four.

BBC Sherlock is a waste of good potential. I love how they set up Watson but they refuse to conclude his arch. Also Sherlock is so mean and manipulative that I can’t enjoy him. One moment he saying how much he cares about Watson, the next he is being horrible to Watson like an abuse partner. If you want a good Watson and Holmes dynamic watch Soviet Sherlock where Sherlock is nice and kind and Watson is deeply in love with Sherlock.

Sorry for any mistakes I’m drunk.

Also Sherlock feels like an ace autistic icon literally has an at home boyfriend with no sexual expectation who loves him for his special interest. Also for those who get trans man vibes from Holmes could you explain to me why, no hate, I just want to understand (I’m Trans masculine and ace myself) just wanted to know. Sorry for the rant, I love Tumblr communities.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but DC Legends of Tomorrow left me confused and mad like I aspected it to be good but was left empty watching it. DC Legends of Tomorrow was just disappointing and filled with wasted potential and extremely bland uninteresting characters for the most part (some were good like Rip Hunter, Leonard Snark and Micky). Everything about the show felt mediocre, from the writing to the acting. The worst episodes were the crossovers - they were so bad.

It was my first adventure into the arrowverse. I have watched all of the cross over episodes. I have also started the Flash and that series seems to be even worse. But on the other hand Arrow is better but has a lot of flaws and really feels like they wanted to make Batman - like arrow wastes it’s overall idea of Oliver fighting against corrupt people in his city as the show seems like it doesn’t want to question the system.

Honestly just done rewatching season 2 of Gotham and best season, well primarily the middle part, and l love the decent of Ed, he’s really good in season 1 and 2 also his moments with Oswald are some of the best in season 2, I much prefer their dynamic in season 2 with Ed being like I choose the penguin man - he will be my murder husband

Also Oswald is very ace gay and Ed is very autistic.

Thanks for listening to opinions
