Thinking about little kid marauders

Sirius missing his front teeth bc he basically knocked them out himself

James with cuts and bruises on every limb (plus really cute bandaids that effie puts on him)

Remus reading a book way too big for his tiny kid brain but hes trying real hard

Peter with grass stained hands and pants making dirt art and watching the bugs

Regulus: Told my step son I couldn’t find the cocoa powder and Harry said, “Maybe someone stole it and hid it behind my bed.” Which is an oddly specific theory.

your bed is probably as happy to see you as you are to see it. ‘here comes the warmth slab’ it thinks

wrong it thinks “god hope this dipshit doesnt spill beans all over me again who tf eats beans in bed”

stop reblogging this new year new me i havent spilled beans in bed ONCE this year

uh oh

It gets funnier the earlier in the year you reblog it

remus bites his lip compulsively when he’s stressed, usually without even noticing, until it’s raw and red and sore. sometimes until it bleeds. the second they started dating, sirius decided that every time remus bit his lip, sirius would kiss him long and hard until he was so dazed he couldn’t even do it subconsciously. he also bought some vaseline in a squeezy tube and started spreading it over remus’s lips for him at random points throughout the day because remus would never remember to do it himself and even if sirius has effectively stopped his lip chewing keeping them hydrated is important too!

(eventually he switches to buying the pink-tinted one because he likes having remus’s lip prints on his cheeks. remus blushes like mad the first time he kisses sirius and notices it leaves a visible mark behind)

thinking about remus being the first person to call sirius beautiful. sirius who had been told he was handsome from such a young age. handsome was then became attractive, which quickly became “hot” but those compliments never made him feel special. he didn’t feel flattered, he felt uncomfortable. he felt observed but not seen. until remus called him beautiful and wasn’t referring to what he looked like. yes, sure sirius was visibly, objectively, stunning remus would tell him with a laugh when sirius pushed him on the topic but that’s not the most beautiful thing about him. it’s his laugh, his humour, his crinkled eyes when he smiles and giggles to himself. his kindness, bravery and loyalty. his compassion and love and intelligence. it’s all his messy emotions and inability to be anyone other than himself. sirius is no actor, he is confidently his authentic self because that’s all he knows how to be. he’s outspoken words and chaotic energy and impulsivity. he is sweet and loving and bold. he cares so much and feels even more. he’s truly beautiful.

Prompt 31 - Midnight Kiss

@wolfstarmicrofic December 31, word count 901

Sirius looked around the bar. He’d come out for New Year's Eve with his best mate and his Mrs. He regretted agreeing to it as he felt like a total third wheel.

The bar was packed with people, all cheering in the new year. Sirius wondered if he’d be able to find someone for a kiss at midnight. Last year, he’d snogged Gideon Prewett, and that had been a colossal mistake. He’d woken up on New Year’s Day massively hungover and naked in Gideon’s bed. He’d had to have a very awkward breakfast with Gid’s twin brother, Fabian and their sister Molly.

This year, though, he was determined to find a complete stranger and snog their socks off before going home and collapsing with his dog.

A lanky man appeared behind the bar and began taking orders from the thirsty patrons. Sirius eyed him up. He wasn’t what Sirius would usually pick, but he was the best-looking person at the bar apart from himself.

“Hi,” he said as he sidled up to the bar.

“Hi, what can I get you?” His name tag said Remus. Sirius thought it must be fate that he’d chosen Remus to flirt with, as his name was almost as insane as his own.

“A kiss at midnight?” He asked, batting his eyes sweetly. Remus looked him up and down and turned away.

“Pass,”

“Pass! Pass! What the damn hell! I’m a catch!”

“I don’t do random hook-ups,” Remus shrugged.

“I'm not asking for a shag, just a midnight kiss as we ring in the new year.”

“Still, pass.”

“Beer,”

“Huh?”

“I’ll have a beer, please,” Sirius repeated slowly. Remus slammed a bottle down on the bar.

“Anything else, Sir?” Remus snarled at him.

“Not a thing,” Sirius smiled at him, sickenly sweet, before he returned to Lily and James.

“Why does your face look like a smacked arse?” James asked as Sirius sat down beside him.

“Rude bartender,” he huffed, shooting daggers at Remus.

“Who, Remus?” Lily asked, leaning around James. “He’s the sweetest guy I’ve ever met. What did you do?” She turned accusingly to him.

“I didn’t do anything! I asked him for a kiss at midnight, and he brushed me off,”

“Oh yeah, he doesn’t do random hook-ups,”

“So I’ve heard,” Sirius said between gritted teeth.

He spent the remainder of the evening sulking and nursing his beer. He was so dour that James suggested he go home. Sirius stuck his tongue out in answer, and Lily dragged James off to dance.

At one minute to midnight, the music cut off, and Dorcas picked up the microphone.

“It’s nearly time, people, so get ready. Those of you taking part, go grab your partner, and we’ll begin the countdown.” The bar was a hive of people talking excitedly. Sirius sighed and got to his feet. He wasn’t going to be sitting down when the clock chimed.

“Ten,

Nine,

Eight,

Seven,

Six,”

He sucked in a breath. Maybe it was for the best. Maybe it was the universe's way of telling him to make better choices.

“Five,

Four,

Three,”

Someone tapped him on the shoulder.

“Two,”

He turned around to find Remus standing behind him.

“One,

Happy New Year!!!”

Confetti rained down on them as Remus reached out and tilted his chin up. He leant over and hovered before Sirius’s lips, asking for permission. Sirius didn’t need asking twice. He closed the gap and brought in the new year, kissing Remus. The thing was, it didn’t feel like just a kiss. It was by far the best kiss he’d ever had.

“Can, can I call you?” he asked, his voice slightly dreamy as they pulled away. A card appeared between Remus’s fingers, and Sirius reached up to take it. Remus bent down and kissed him on the cheek and went back behind the bar.

“Oi, Black!” Lily yelled across the floor. “I told him you weren’t a total twat!

“Thanks, Lil,” he shouted back. She finger gunned him and went back to snogging James, her fingers mussing his hair up worse than ever.

The crowd began to thin out, and Lily and James were ready to go. Sirius followed them out, but not without a last look over his shoulder at the bar. Their eyes met across the room, and Sirius felt a jolt of something run through him. He blinked a few times, unable to tear his eyes away from Remus. Remus winked at him as Lily grabbed the back of his collar and dragged him out the door. The last thing he heard from the near-empty bar was the most glorious twinkling laugh he’d ever heard. He didn’t need to see to know it was Remus’s.

Tucked up in bed, he took the card out and entered the number into his phone.

‘Hi Remus, hope I’m not waking you up. It’s Sirius. Just wanted to see when you’re next free and ask if you wanted to do something?’

He didn’t have to wait long for a response.

‘Pass.’

He stared at his phone, unbelievable sadness washing over him.

‘Just kidding. Sure. I actually have tomorrow off. Wanna do something then?’

‘That was so mean! But also yes, please,’

‘Cool, I’ll send you my address. See you tomorrow. Six, all right?’

‘Sounds great. See you then.’

Sirius snuggled down in his bed, grinning like a loon. He had a date, and he couldn’t wait.

Remus tucking Sirius’ hair behind his ears is actually an integral part of their relationship

My phone just autocorrected religious to regulus.

Im glad it acknowledges the object of my worship.

Remus: I’m fine, just leave it

Sirius: clearly you not, what’s wrong you got one of the best marks in the class

James: yeah moony don’t tell me you pissed you didn’t get 100%, Padfoot got the same score u did and he’s not throwing a hissy

Remus: that just it though isn’t it, I worked my arse off for that grade, do u know how many all nighters I pulled? How many hours I spent in the library? Do you have any idea how much work it took just to get the same grade as the guy who didn’t even open a single text book, Sirius probably played hooky more than he attended class for fuck sake! And I’m supposed to be happy that all my efforts were matched by someone who didn’t even realise we had an exam that day! Do you have any idea how that feels!?!

James:

Sirius: …

Peter: wow

Remus: it’s fine, it’s not like my grades will make all that much of a difference anyway.

Remus: I’m going for a smoke, don’t follow me.

James: well done Padfoot

Sirius: me! I didn’t do anything!

Sirius didn’t really understood why people liked cuddling and being touchy until fourth Year.

In the House of Black, touch was either formal or painful. He thought people hanging off each other in the common room looked desperate and clingy.

Then, after a particularly bad detention, Sirius flops face-first onto Remus’s bed. He intends to just groan and leave, but Remus is reading there. Instead of pushing him off, Remus just shifts his leg to make room and absentmindedly rests his hand on the back of Sirius’s neck. The heat from Remus’s palm seeps into Sirius’s spine. His brain goes quiet. The tension he’s carried in his shoulders since he was eleven evaporates. He realizes he isn't clingy, he is starving.

"You're heavy, Padfoot," Remus mumbles, turning a page. "Move."

"No," Sirius mumbles into the duvet, closing his eyes. "If you move your hand, I will bite you."

Remus doesn't move his hand for hours.
