i'd like to know what people are thinking about the part in kana6 where they suggest that family for mafuyu is something extra special that her friends can't provide, even something necessarily more valuable than friends. personally, i'm not sure if we're meant to believe this at face value.

certainly, mafuyu wants to have both. but if she can't, if she's forced to choose, we saw back in mafu4 that she would rather part with her mother than part with niigo. and if we look at the entire story of niigo or pjsk as a whole, i don't think dismissing the value of friendship would ever be the point.

rather, i think the point is that, if this is true, it's kanade's worst nightmare. mafuyu will be saved when she is happy with her family, at which point she won't need niigo anymore. but kanade's family is gone, so niigo is all she has. this thing she depends on, in her mind, only exists for mafuyu's sake. once she's saved, will kanade be left with nothing?

given how kanagranny's health is described she likely does not have a lot of time left and she tells kanade that her most important desire is for her to be happy forever therefore kanade would eventually lose 2 important people in her life who both had the same dying wish for her

so kana6 is an event about kanade avoiding her own issues, refusing to acknowledge her deep rooted fear of what might change, her pretty pastel amusement park secretly crumbling around her.

and meiko is the featured vsinger.

when you say mmj and niigo parallels i feel like you have to talk about minoharu and kanaena. the blue eyed girl wracked with guilt over taking away a loved one's ability to make music, who constantly overworks herself for the sake of others. and the brown haired girl who lacked talent and felt like a failure until the blue eyed girl gave her hope again, not only through her music but through who she was as a person.

No one talks enough about the parallels between Kanade and Haruka

Both discovered music as a child, inspired by an older figure, one wanted to spread hope by singing music, while the other wanted to make others smile through creating music

Both of them hurt those they cared about, taking away their ability to be able to sing and create music and blamed themselves for it

While the other overworked themselves because of it to the point of collapsing, One couldn't physically work and stand on stage

One continued, not because she wanted to do it but because she feel the need to do so, One quit but regained hope and wanted to spread that hope to others because she wants to

Haruka gained hope and therefore wants to share it, Kanade lost hope yet wants to give others hope in order to save them

Haruka was founded by Minori, the last one to regain her love for being an idol while Kanade was the one that founded the group, and in doing so stopped them from disappearing, giving them hope for the future

Haruka was able to overcome her guilt of causing someone to loose their ability to do the thing they loved most while Kanade is still feeling guilt and suffers almost every day because of it

Really the parallels between them is making me insane

This is so real I've thought of this before but I'm not if Haruka is entirely free of her guilt since Mai isn't properly talked about in her events??(Maybe haru 6 does idk haven't read it yet) Mai is in Haru 2 but it's not about the guilt Haruka has there are other reasons I have but I need to stop yapping

What I meant with "overcome her guilt" is that Haruka was able to forgive herself to continue the thing she loves most. Im not entirely sure if Haruka still feels guilty since its not really the focus of her events (I also haven't read haru6)
