Being mentally ill about once upon a witchlight is so stupid. You're telling me. That just thinking about a d&d podcast is making me tear up because there's a tabaxi who was never allowed to have the childhood he deserved, and a fire genasi ripped from his home and taken into literal slavery, and a goblin who doesn't bring up piano lessons with his mother anymore, and a lizardfolk that took himself apart and rebuilt himself in the image of another man, and a bugbear who is trying so desperately to become whole once again, even if he doesn't know what that would even be.

Also there's a very silly owlbear.

I'm on ep 15 of Once Upon a Witchlight AKA the famed Wedding sequence and. I know this has been said multiple times already—but the timing. The timing of it all. THE TIMING.

I get what people say now when they comment, "Rich when I get you," because genuinely, the timing of that wedding sequence is DEVIOUS. But moreover, the build-up of it??? Peak comedy. To me. If you even care.

Because: the reveal of Kremy's prenup actually being a contract to send off his and Gricko's pixie fiancés to Gideon? Funny as hell, I loved how the whole table just exploded into chaos—but Rich doubling down with, "we've done this scam plenty of times; you get married, you consummate it, we get the hell outta dodge before trouble finds us," is so??? SO. And Derek's little quip about how they don't know how many kid-eons are running around in Avantris 😭😭

But there's MORE LAYERS TO THIS. Kremy repeating, "I'll make it up to you," and Gideon (snapping out of his breakdown) saying, "you never do!" SOMEWHAT FORGETTING THAT KREMY CAN'T LIE??? BRO'S CURSED WITH HIS BIGGEST FEAR HE CANNOT LIE TO SAVE HIS ASS????

And again with the timing: Nikkie throwing in Twists of Dread for each of them right before the actual ceremony starts, the ping-ponging around which Fey curse would fit before Kremy landed on "you are now in love with Gideon." Everyone joking about how it was the absolute perfect time to say something.

Not to mention the heavy lifting Nikkie had to do during the Satyr marriage officiant speech (the flipping through a book that had different law speeches had me in stitches on god). The, "don't forget, you're in love with Gideon," in the middle of interacting with the brides-to-be. The cheeky, "I know."

The Satyr adding, "ANYONE WHO SPEAKS MUST BE MARRIED," because the groom and his groomsmen wouldn't shut tf up. THE DEAD SILENCE AFTER THAT???? And Rich pulling the most devious move by not. Saying. Anything. At that moment...

INSTEAD he pulls a hee-hee ha-ha, "tell me it's ironic," during the, "if anyone has any objections," portion... Because of course, Kremy can't lie but that didn't mean Kremy can't scheme his way to winning—on a technicality.

Beautiful, just beautiful.

The way Rich took the prompt, "Kremy is in love with Gideon," and gave it a certain depth that the other fall-in-love-with-x Fey curses didn't??? The way this had LAYERS of possibilities whereas the previous ones were mostly played for laughs?????

And, of course. "Those were beautiful vows." AMAZING.

(honorable mentions:

"It's ironic!"

"I married Kremy too?!"

"Say sike right now, Gid."

"I guess it's common law already.")
