because i have these limits on time and attention, which individual campaigns i can help ends up being completely arbitrary. everyone is in desperate need, and i am at a total remove from the stakes of the situation. i've realized my very limited and insufficient fundraising efforts are better focused on community projects operating on the ground, which can serve the maximum number of people. this is not because any of the individual family campaigns are in any way undeserving of help, but because community aid programs are the most effective way to mitigate the imposed scarcity and sky-rocketing prices under the genocide (besides of course destroying the zionist entity and imperialism altogether).

Like yes bell pursues claire bc of desire, not overtly in the interest of protection, but kae (more transparently than claire) from the very start looks out for bell out of sexual desire for her, which the other inmates immediately clock, with an implicit expectation of repayment, even though she doesn’t enforce when it’s not met. which makes it obvious how much bell is seeking out claire’s protection (writing claire’s name on her shoes like a brand) even before they kiss for the first time. the bullies keep messing with bell even after kae painstakingly negotiates a deal for them to leave her alone (stealing her shoes) but they back off from claire, they respect her violence more than kae’s intelligence. this is proven immediately after they get together and a girl who wronged bell apologizes to her in the shower. and as much as bell’s feelings seem to be her motive, you can’t remove the specter of transaction and that’s clearly what kae is processing it as!! and then there’s the warden and dao in parallel as well—relationship that’s entirely predicated on the warden’s total power over dao, but she’s strung along with affection :(
