Anyway, life is something that you need to digest.

you need to understand that i have two sets of headcanons. there's the set of realistic headcanons based on my genuine reading of the show, and then there's me playing pretend with my dolls.

This phrase has already entered my vocabulary re: media criticism where like. The viewer has a concrete view of what they expect a story to be based on the tropes and cliches they're used to seeing together, and when that doesn't happen, they judge it as a failed depiction of what they assumed it was going to be instead of judging it as what it actually is.

"This show is problematic because the hero didn't kill the villain at the end": When does he steal the bread?

"These two characters who were close friends throughout the series don't kiss at the end! What the fuck?": When does he steal the bread?

"This feels like it's missing a conclusion! Like, the protagonist does bad stuff and because of a critical decision he makes as a result of his major character flaws, meets tragedy in the end! Where's the part where he learns better and brings is love back from the dead and becomes a good guy and gets a happy ending?": When does he steal the fucking bread??

I heard this out as "When criticizing something, you must judge it for what it is, not what it isn't"

a funny thing about having a Problematic Blorbo is that you'll periodically come across a post along the lines of "um let's not forget that [Blorbo] is a bad person..." listing their various crimes, and if you have a modicum of intellectual honesty you find yourself nodding along and saying yeah it's true... but it's the greyness of their character that makes them so compelling... At the same time though you have a little Saul Goodman in your ear going "your honor in their defense: who cares like omfgggg who caresssssss like come onnnnnn"

i hope it's okay to ask but do you have any readings or methods when it comes to archiving your own stuff or things that you come across? i'm just struggling to find a way of organizing all the things i want to keep either physical and digital and i don't know where to start

My go-to recommendation for getting started is the book Creating Family Archives: A Step-by-Step Guide to Saving Your Memories for Future Generations published by the Society of American Archivists.

You can buy it here or see if your local library has a copy/can inter library loan a copy for you/purchase a copy you can borrow. The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery did a series on personal archives highlighting the book and some of the key lessons

The Library of Congress has a blog post about the process and links to related posts (there are lots of components to archives) that gives a fair amount of information

Penn State put together a very quick post about digital archiving. Digital preservation is complicated so this gives you a very quick guide (copies, you want multiple copies and you want them in different places)

If these still leave you wanting more, I highly recommend looking to your local libraries, historical societies, and genealogy societies. Ask them if they ever hold workshops on personal or family archives. Many do!

October is Archives Awareness Month so many archives hold webinars, info sessions, special blog posts, virtual and in-person visits. Ask An Archivist Day is a great way to ask questions and keep up on some of these activities (run as a hashtag across social media platforms) during October.

And I am sure some of my other tumblr archives peeps have some other resources they'd be happy to share.

Hope this helps!

If there was a little freak that wanted to befriend you would you be so grossed out you vomit ten times or would you have a different reaction

eh i'd be fine with it, always cool to talk to new people, now anon reveal thyself (or dm me o7)

Spoiler

I just remembered that the first time Loulan/Shisui meets Maomao, it’s when she’s giving the consorts the sex talk. That’s one hell of a first impression

I mean it could have been one of her doubles, but I’m pretty sure it’s really her by how unbothered and aloof she was during the lesson. Plus, the small scene where Loulan was intensely staring at Maomao

I bet Suirei would have warned her beforehand on how cunning Maomao is. So being summoned for a private lesson with her only for that lesson to be a 101 sex education seminar. What was Shisui thinking during that scene?

Loulan: Damn she weird af fr, i kinda fuck with it tho
