Look y'all. I try to be chill and welcoming to everyone on this blog. But shit sucks right now, and it's impossible to not be political when the personal is political and my very existence is political. I know the world has seen this shit before; I've done my homework when it comes to fascism and genocide. I know there's only so much we can do, especially those of us in marginalized communities, but it's important that we do what we can. I know I've been slacking on that, but I want to use my platform for good, however small it is. I also know that sometimes we need encouragement from people we look up to, even if they're fictional.
The champions say fuck ICE, fuck Trump, release the Epstein Files, Trans rights are human rights, Black lives matter, nobody is illegal on stolen land, free Gaza. I'm certainly forgetting some, but you get the point.
Alder and Iris encourage you to get out there and protest if you can, vote if you can, even if you're not in the line of fire. We're in the last lines of the poem, and they will come for you. Stand up for your siblings, because even though we might not have magical friendship powers, community is powerful and necessary. Media has taught us time and time again that we need to stand together in the face of evil, and it's high time we listened.
Also, write that fanfiction. Draw that fanart. Art is political, art is protest. Art inspires others. Hope and joy are important in times of crisis, too. (but also fuck generative AI)
