Hi world ,i am called Nina a transgender living in south sudan refugee camp called gorom, I live together with lgbtiq members in the community and we face alot of challenges ,such as discrimination as we live with refugees who aren't lgbtiq ,we face attacks from the community people ,south sudan is a country that experiences war we live here while we are worried though the refugee camp is some how safer from war zones
Starvation is another challenge we face ,there is shortage of food in the refugee camp as we can't work in the refugee camp because of discrimination and fear to be attacked on our way
Another challenge is shortage of medical care ,most of the time transgenders we are discriminated in UNHCR hospitals by the doctors and other refugees ,so we find it difficult to go there for treatment, it will be better when one gets support and go to private hospitals where they will give treatment for money which is safer
Another issue is shelters ,we have few shelters with us ,when it comes to night ,some of us sleep outside ,we live the rooms for the lesbians to sleep inside and the little children ,if support is got ,we can add more shelters and also get a fence built with iron sheets for our safety

Why am I posting a story about South African penguins? Because on one of our trips to Africa, we spent an afternoon with the penguins (then called "Jackass penguins" for the braying noise they make) in Simon Town, near Capetown. It was incredible to see hundreds of penguins in a place that had no ice! So, I care about them, even though one of them bit me because he thought my finger was a sardine, I guess.

More than 60,000 penguins in colonies off the coast of South Africa have starved to death as a result of disappearing sardines, a new paper has found.
More than 95% of the African penguins in two of the most important breeding colonies, on Dassen Island and Robben Island, died between 2004 and 2012. The breeding penguins probably starved to death during the moulting period, according to the paper, which said the climate crisis and overfishing were driving declines.
The losses that researchers recorded in those colonies were not isolated, said the paper, which was published in Ostrich: Journal of African Ornithology. “These declines are mirrored elsewhere,” said Dr Richard Sherley, from the Centre for Ecology and Conservation at the University of Exeter. The African penguin species has undergone a population decline of nearly 80% in 30 years.
African penguins shed and replace their worn-out feathers every year to protect their insulation and waterproofing. However, during the moulting period, which takes about 21 days, they have to stay on land. To survive this fasting period, they need to fatten up beforehand. “If food is too hard to find before they moult or immediately afterwards, they will have insufficient reserves to survive the fast,” said Sherley. “We don’t find large rafts of carcasses – our sense is that they probably die at sea,” he said.

One of the most important things to unpack and unlearn when you’re part of a white supremacy saturated society (i.e. the global north) and especially if you were raised in an intensified form of it (evangelicism, right wing politics, explicit racism) is the urge to punish and take revenge.
It manifests in our lives all the time and it is inherently destructive. It makes relationships and interactions adversarial for no good reason. It undermines cooperation and good civic order. It worsens some types of crime. It creates trauma, especially in children.
Imagine approaching unexpected or unacceptable behavior from a perspective of "how can this be stopped, and prevented" instead of "you’re going to regret this!”
Imagine dealing with a problem or conflict from the perspective of “how can this be solved in a way that is just and restorative” instead of “the people who caused this are going to pay.”
How much would that change you? How much would that have changed for you?
