NO NO NO I UNDERSTAND BOOMERS ACCIDENTALLY POSTING THEIR GOIGLE SERCH ONTO FACEBOOK OR WHATEVER NOW I LITTERLY ALMOST DID THAT WITH TUMBLR 😭

FUCK THIS CAT BROOOO WHY SHE LICKIN EVERYTHING 😭

it's like damn,, to put the KOSA stuff into my words:

it's basically like,, "censorship" to them is "if you show your support towards Palestine, Black lives, trans lives, gay lives, actually caring about children in a non gross way, your ass is grass aka we're removing you from the internet".

KOSA literally is that of still owning loads of data of that of,, children still. it's still a bunch of white old men being in charge of your data. and having the ability to deem sites as "illegal" if a site was that of saying "i think pedophilia is gross/Black lives matter/trans rights/gay rights/women rights" they can deem that as "you're not for censorship! removed!" which,,, sighhh makes me remember there are ppl who are like this. (which, any of this being illegal is HORRID. it's gonna cause so much shit to happen and the internet will fall apart if this passes. many people will leave the internet, sites will have little to no interactions, people's data will be sent and be seen as "terrorism". and any few who stay but wanna speak out, will be removed. DO THESE PEOPLE NOT KNOW THE PEOPLE THEY WANNA DEEM AS ILLEGAL ARE ALSO CHILDREN WITHIN THESE SPACES????

and it's just,, if you can't call your reps due to safety reasons, just please spread the word on the KOSA stuff. i get it could be pushed away again like before, but instead of this being pushed back, we need it eradicated and not to ever be considered to be passed again.

cause how are these fucks gonna be all "we're here to protect the children!" and yet pull this shit with this bill???? y'all aren't exactly protecting children when their privacy and data is still in the hands of people who are supporting others who are killing and harming children around the world (and supporting a certain genocide that has kidnapped, SA'd kids too). it's not protecting us either cause we know this isn't meant to protect anyone but the people who made this KOSA stuff.

this is to keep creep pedo racists like our leaders and other rotten fucks on this internet safe. it's to just keep actual people who are doing wrong shit and making the internet not safe for kids or anyone for that matter safe. it's not a means of protecting children, it's still a means of controlling them and silencing them and silencing us too.

(oh yeah and added: it's also saying they'll include "surveillance" shit??? yeah not good. that's still endangering children. endangering us Black ppl, Palestinians, trans ppl, gay ppl, disabled ppl, women, SA/abuse survivors, and anyone who hates those against us. this sucks,,,)

The Banning Children From Social Media Bill (RESET, HR 6488) And What To Do About It

Today is: December 17th, 2025

This bill was discussed by the House Energy and Commerce subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade on December 2nd, 2025 and advanced to the full House Energy and Commerce Committee on a party line vote.

This bill is intended to pass with other "internet safety" bills like KOSA. They work with one another to create the possibility for a privacy and civil rights nightmare. The sponsors of this legislation are relying on the density of the text and the overwhelming number of bills to distract and demoralize people. Stay focused, don't get discouraged.

This bill would

  • Prohibit all "covered platforms" (the bill defines this using the definition from the TAKE IT DOWN Act. The bill's intent is clarified in the hearing memo for the December 2nd meeting.), meaning social media companies, from "allow[ing] an individual to create or maintain an account or profile on the covered platform if the covered platform knows that the individual is a minor." (Section 2, Paragraph a)
  • It would also require social media platforms to delete any existing accounts created by people under sixteen.
  • While it is true that children have had harmful experiences on social media platforms, social media can also be an important resource for children, especially those that may be socially isolated. It can help inform, organize, and connect, at its best. It seems overzealous to unilaterally ban anyone under 16 from accessing it.
  • Because the bill also gives the state the ability to punish any covered platform for violation of this law (Section 2, Paragraph b), it incentivizes providers to be overly cautious regarding the phrase "know is a minor". They may choose to implement age verification technology, or to terminate any account that they believe to belong to a minor for any reason.

Here's What You Can Do

  • You can find your Congressional Representatives here. Focus on your federal House representatives at present, since that's where the bill has been introduced.
  • Resources for contacting your representatives about this bill: 5 calls, Resistbot
  • The bill's sponsor is Representative Erin Houchin (R) of Indiana's ninth district. If you live in her district please be sure to contact her and let her know what you think of this bill.

It's important to remember that RESET is part of a suite of bills. In order to prevent the government from enacting internet restrictions, the bills must be opposed as a group.

My advice is to choose one bill to focus on and center your activism around that. Call, email, fax, or write your Representative repeatedly about that specific issue. It is likely the tactic these bills' sponsors are trying to use is to sneak by some of the worst things in the less prominent bills. Don't divide your attention to such an extent that you burn out; keep your focus narrow and consistent. If lots of people choose different things to focus on, we can collectively defeat these pieces of legislation.

OTHER BILLS IN THIS SET: KOSA, SCREEN, ASAA (This list will be updated as the week progresses)

12/11/2025 KOSA UPDATE

KOSA and the other age-verification bills we've been watching have been passed out of their subcommittee in the House and are now before the full House Energy and Commerce Committee. NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO BE A DOOMER OR PANIC. Why? Because KOSA and these other bills were passed along party lines and with only a slim majority. THAT MEANS OUR OPPOSITION IS WORKING, not only that, but we know that no matter how much they tout these bills as being popular and bipartisan, there is a clear divide amongst them, and they DO NOT all agree with these bills. Now, it's up to us to continue our opposition by calling, emailing, and faxing, so we don't lose the momentum we've gained this week. Not only should we be consistently acting between now and next week, but we should also be reaching out to others, on and offline, to build and maintain this movement.

I believe we're at a good place, given that lawmakers disagree with and dislike these bills, and we made a lot of noise this week. WE MUST KEEP UP OUR OPPOSITION. Even if you're not hearing much news or things seem slow, call, email, or fax.

Use your energy for opposition. If you're angry, contact representatives and spread the word. If you're scared, contact representatives and spread the word. If you're panicked, contact representatives and spread the word. When I feel all those things, that's what I do to ensure I'm doing my part in helping to stop these bills. You should too.

Thanks to everyone who is making their voices heard. Let's keep making this process difficult for them BECAUSE CALLING MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

P.S. When you're calling also mention how you support/want to keep Section 230 as it is written. And I'll probably have more as we hear more.

Update 12/19/25:

Good work to everyone for speaking out.

Congress is on recess as of next week, so while we have a bit of a breather for the holidays, be mindful that the war is far from over.

The senate has made it clear that February 2026 is the month they want to ram their bill gutting Section 230 through.

If we want a free & safe Internet, we have to prevent this bill from going through, so we need to push back hard.

Take a breather the next two weeks, but remain vigilant. Happy Holidays & I’ll see you all next year when the battle begins again.

Keep calm & always keep fighting!
