It was untrue, for Death only ever wanted to nurture those souls that came to it in search of safety. It never once took a soul that didn't come to it on its own.
And thus, Death decided. The best way for it to not ever lay eye on a fighting soul again was to blind itself. And so Death became blind, welcoming souls that came to it, and giving a chance to those who refused to give up just yet.
Death was foolish. Not every soul came to it in search of protection. But Death was blind to see that now. Therefore it welcomed.
