SO 2025 was basically the year of frank puppy play and BDSM games in general. My prediction for 2026 is a comeback of horror type fanfiction. You can already feel it coming back this year, with how heavily Stockholm syndrome shows up in big fics, and with monsters making a return in pop culture. I really think we’re sliding back into a 2010/2016 era. 2010 was the second big wave of online fanfic and the start of its wider democratization. That period was marked by a lot of psychological horror themes.

Stuff like Mama by Jatty or ASOTM, and a strong return of teenage suffering as a central theme I think!

If 2025 has taught me anything it's that life is more fun when you have something to go completely insane about every week
