Thinking about an AU where Sakura and Tenten join ANBU some time after the war, become teammates, and slowly fall in love with each other without knowing the other’s identity. With a beautiful side of Tenten gender fuckery (pretends to be a boy in ANBU, pretends to be a girl outside, is very much neither)
Tenten thinks their new teammate is so so cool. She’s so obviously disgusted by how much Tenten enjoys their kills, but unlike their last teammates she hasn’t put in a request for transfer yet, and has a habit of dealing with their targets in even more brutal ways than Tenten does. They’re not too sure what kind of jutsu is letting her blow people’s limbs off, but Tenten is obsessed. Week 2 and they’re trying to get her into their bed.
Sakura is equally terrified and impressed with her teammate. He seems to have joined ANBU just so he could go on darker missions (correct) because he openly has zero care for Konoha as a village. Yet, for some reason, Kakashi-sensei still lets him look at files that she knows neither of them have the clearance to access yet, and spy on meetings he should not be listening in on. Plus, the more missions she goes on with him, the more okay she becomes with using her medical jutsu for things Tsunade specifically banned her from doing. Like blowing people’s arms off. It’s wrong, but her teammate gets so excited every time she does it.
(also, I know I am very much not an artist, but Tenten’s mask is meant to be a vulture and Sakura’s is a crane!)
