Latin exam in 45 mins and I got 4 hours of sleep 😍😍😍

It's okay we got this it's me and my dictionnaire bilingue against the world

Talked to my prof after about possibly taking both Greek and Latin next semester and he said that they fall at the same time but that I could be in the Latin class for the year above me due to my background in Classics! Yay!

Also the exam went well I think, answered everything even if my last response was a bit tangential (I've missed 4/6 of these classes so while I answered the question I don't think I echoes back what was taught which is usually the aim of the exam. Oh well!)

❄️Study with me! 02.12.24❄️

📖 Subject: Literary Translation

⏳️ Time: 30 minutes

📍Location: Maughan Library, London

I'm back! I haven't been uploading these in a while but it really does help me to focus so it's good to do so again! My commentary on my translation into French is due on Thursday so I need to get it done. I have to write it in French, which I think is why I've been avoiding it, but once I started it wasn't quite so bad 😊

I had my writing poetry seminar today and I really like our new professor! He's only got us for one more class before the semester ends but I'm going to schedule a Teams calls with him to discuss my poetry portfolio :)

Revising my Objets Magiques class for our test on Wednesday, and trying out a different library (this one doesn't seem to have a coffee machine, but it does have a good view over the town)

Update it DOES have a coffee machine and cheaper than the other university libary's one! Which is weird but I don't mind. Hot choccy yummyyy

Messy table but! Notes are getting done! I had my Madame Bovary and Fabrique de La Langue exams last week (I'll update om grades when I get them) and I have my Comparative Literature one this week and then my Latin, Antique Literature and B2 Written the week after that. Phew! Exam season!

I hosted pres at mine last night and then went out dancing with my friends, and it was so fun! I feel it's important to have dedicated "socialising and going out" time, because then I have its opposite: "studying and staying in" time. If I don't define them then I usually end up in a grey wishy washy area where I neither socialise nor study and just kind of passively exist. Not the best for my academic work or my mental health!

Outside of revising I am making initialised Christmas tree ornaments for my partner's family as it is my first time visiting them for Christmas (that's what the twine and crafty things on my desk are about) and still binging criminal minds hehe >:)

After a lovely weekend in Paris (will share some more photos soon/write a post on my year abroad blog about it, promise) I'm back to regular uni life. Yesterday I had no lessons but today I have my Antique Literature class followed immediately by my Madame Bovary exam, which I am currently looking over my notes for.

This exam is for the international students specifically, so it's in December rather than January and they've made it so that we respond to specific questions rather than having to write an essay for four hours! I'm very grateful for that. We are allowed bilingual dictionaries too, so I have borrowed one from the university library. I am not particularly worried about it as I feel fairly confident that I can answer most general questions about the book, but I do fear that my French grammar might let me down here so I am going to make sure to check and double check all my gender and plural agreements.

(Also I <3 the library vending machine cappuccinos❗️ they're 1.60€ and warm me right up on these rainy days ☕️)
