if you can believe it, that choice was totally arbitrary lol. I was trying to interpret vulpes in my style and ended up thinking about how hard life was in the wasteland - and how particularly rough it must have been growing up first as a tribe member and then a legion boy. So i gave him a scar, and then a bite out of his ear, both on the left side because that was the only part of his face you could see in demondogs.
but now that so many people have pointed it out, I realized I gave him a unique ear under the context of the courier routinely slicing them off and collecting them like some sort of mojave cryptid. So I bet Rose has Noticed It.
I'm undecided as to what happened - maybe he dodged a bullet by a hair and it took a chunk of his skin. Or he got attacked by a gecko and doesn't wanna talk about it lol

In Rose's default universe where she plays the Independent's Gambit, I'd always imagined that she and Arcade have a loving but deeply strained relationship cause of her skewed moral compass and willingness to work with the Legion.
Ultimately he believes in her vision, and she knows that Arcade will tell her what she needs to hear, but they push each other's buttons frequently as a result
and i may, maaaaaay make a comic about that interaction after ATTC but idk yet!
