Hello and welcome to my blog! I mainly post radioapple drawings, or doodles of Alastor and Lucifer by themselves. I hope you enjoy your stay!

reblogging this, because it’s really important you fucks realise that alastor was oppressed and ostracised to shit and just because it's not EXPLICITLY said in the show, it's heavily implied. His obsession with power/control isn't just because he's a fucked up little egomaniac.

there's a tumblr on here who has the SICKEST hazbin takes but they spell so horrendously that I had to block them, I couldn't take it anymore.

A little Alastor ramble from your friendly neighbourhood aroace! (I know Alastor isn't aroace only asexual, before I get this comment a thousand times over)

The scene between Vox and Alastor at the bar was a hard watch for me.

I've seen multiple interpretations of that scene, and realistically until we hear Alastor's actual POV, and not just some petty performance he puts on to appear superior, we'll never truly know what happened in his cute little deer noggin. But media is an artform, and art is subjective, so I'll put my five cents in nonetheless. (Not to mention the usual jazz of viewing whatever form of media you come across through an inadvertently subjective filter shaped by your personal experiences, but I DIGRESS).

ANYHOO. Seeing the way Alastor spoke to Vox in that scene pre-proposal was so interesting to me. I have genuinely never seen him be so gentle and quiet when spending time with someone — apart from maybeee a few interactions with Niff in s1 — usually he needs to be either entirely in the background Observing 👁️👁️ or he needs to be the star of the show. But here, he was mellow, I'm tempted to even say he was comfortable.

His smile isn't a forced grimace, and for the first time it doesn't look as though it's stitched in place. Vox made a friendly jab at him, and Alastor giggled. Quietly.

Alastor is a highly egotistical being, as we all know. Saying this means a lot. Vox meant something to him back then, but doesn't anymore.

"I respected you" Alastor tells Vox, and call me a sap, but I actually believe him. I think Al found a genuine connection that he cherished in the only way he knew how. Respect. It's really rare to see Alastor interact with someone, and not view them as either a hurdle to overcome or look for any way possible where he can use them for his own gain.

As the scene progresses, Alastor is fairly comfortable, until the moment Vox reaches out and touches him; and I think that's when his little aroace alarm bells started going off.

If you watch the scene, as soon as Vox puts his hands on Al's shoulders, you can hear the static, which is the first sign of Al's discomfort. He never gives it away easy, because he's Alastor, but you can pick up on it, if you listen.

Oh no. Fuck no. Please no.

For those of you that don't quite get it; it's a very real and constant fear, when you're aroace that the people you care about and cherish will wind up falling in love with you. It's not even conceited, just a very deep awareness that the way you love has no capacity for romance, but you still love them with your whole heart nonetheless. It's a bit like having a sibling, I suppose. You love them so so much, but the idea of kissing them makes you want to crawl out of your skin. (btw because this is tumblr, mind your bean soup, I know it's a spectrum, SUSH UP. If it doesn't pertain to you, keeeeeeeep scroooollingggg).

Vox then asks for that partnership, all smitten, and there is a very split second of silence where Al processes what was said, and I think in that moment he also mourns the only real companionship in his afterlife that he had. Because for fuck's sake, of course. Of fucking course.

And if you know Vox — and evidence would suggest Alastor was quite familiar with his personality — you know he's ride or die. He either said yes, or no. And no would mean Vox is out for good and salty about it. He's not the kind of man who takes rejection well and certainly not the kind of man who takes the humiliation of rejection well. This is a guy who killed his way to the top to fast-track his career and have enough influence to lead a cult. This is a guy who, when told no, reaches for a knife and takes what he wants by force. There was no way to preserve their friendship from here on out.

And to Alastor, Vox was the one who ruined it.

So, here comes his reaction.

I mean DUH, obviously his reaction was not genuine joy, or even amusement. That's the most forced ass laugh I've ever heard out of Alastor (Amir did a lovely job, let's all give him all the love in the world, he deserves it).

Yep, look of someone immensely amused right there.

I mean, look at him. He's poofed up, he's recoiling, and he's going through his hair; reminiscent of his breakdown scene in s1.

Lol it's the same pose, expression and everything, mind you.

Not to mention the simple fact that Alastor's entire demeanour changed as soon as this "partnership" was proposed. Before, like I have pointed out before, Alastor was subdued, quiet, suggesting that he did not feel the need to put on a performance for Vox. The loud boisterous showmanship the Radio Demon is known for however comes right back out after, almost immediately. His guard is up, he's engineering his reaction, he's putting on a show.

If you watched the scene, I'm sure you've all felt it, Al's reaction felt blown out of proportion. I've seen a lot of people say "the worst he could say is no" and then play this clip of him absolutely decimating Vox. Which, I have to agree. Alastor overreacted.

He overreacted, because he was upset. Because he lost a friend, and it was Vox's fault, in his eyes. He cannot see it any other way.

"There are no friends in hell, Vincent"

I think, personally, Alastor does not merely say this to further rip into Vox. I think this is acknowledgement on his part also; realising that, realistically, there is no such thing as friendship in hell, and if there is, it definitely does not exist out there for him. Because people, at the end of the day will always want something from him that he does not wish to provide.

Be it power, influence or, in this case, romantic affection, he cannot have a friend in his life, that is in his life unconditionally.

He's a 30s guy. He doesn't understand what being asexual means, he just knows what he feels and that's what he goes by!

Alastor is a sinner, and has many many many qualities that make him a horrible person. Not being attracted to Vox isn't one.

Dassit folks!

Btw I'm a radioapple shipper ✌️

let short man leading the dance, fuck heteronormative stereotypes

In what universe is Great Alastor Power and Control Issues gonna willingly let someone lead him in a dance is my question here, but go off I guess 🤔

(After seeing how much he disliked being spun around by Vox and Rosie too I’m not sure he’d enjoy that very much)

Doing anything where he's the leading power is already enough to make his brain go brrrr but leading the KING OF HELL is most certainly the ego boost of the millenia for him I won’t lie. There’s nothing heteronormative about these two old farts getting it on on the dance floor, I assure you 🫡
