Holy Shit!

@lesbicovirose / lesbicovirose.tumblr.com

I've been on tumblr since April 2011!

Can I rant about something absolutely inane

These type of people piss me off so bad. Like here's a wild idea maybe the post is in portuguese FOR A REASON. Everyone has a translator built in on their phone why are you guys so ALLERGIC to knowing your place and purposely interacting with language and the way it relates socially with the original message instead of skipping that step entirely. You want everything facilitated. Every joke in spanish or portuguese shitting on the united states MUST be translated to English. AND AS IF IT WASN'T ENOUGH YOU GET PREACHY ABOUT IT. foda-se.

Like maybe MAYBE there's social commentary in the way you have to know two different languages to fully understand the post. Wild idea I know. This probably sounds like I'm losing my marbles for caring enough about a stupid joke post BUT IT INFURIATES ME that everyone is allergic to thinking for ONE second about the anglo cultural hegemony.

@cpntredbeard I totally get that as someone who also doesn't speak Portuguese and the thing is? It's an essential part of the process. Languages are supposed to be difficult and your struggle to understand the text should serve as commentary on the herculean effort everyone from everywhere else on the internet has to do every day just to use the internet

Just realized the alt for the original image didn't go through and that it also may be better as part of the text post for translation purposes:

Original post by gravedangerahead includes a bluesky reblog from chá matt (@patodeborracha.bsky.social) in portuguese which reads:

estadunidense pode ver a merda mais estadunidense do mundo acontecer e eles sempre vão ter as mesmas 3 reações sempre né:

1) what are we? a bunch of asians???

2) I can't believe that even the latinos are doing better than us

3) what is happening now must be a russian psyops conspiracy

a reblog by beneaththegildedmoon reads:

Translation for the non-portuguese-speakers: "A

USAmerican can see the most USAmerican shit in the world happen and they'll always have the same 3 reactions, right:"

#anglophones probably get the gist from thecognates #and from yk… interacting with USAmericans and their culture #but for clarity's sake #esp for english-speakers with non-latin native languages

/End ID]

so! you'll never guess what happened again

pro tip if you had to google slang that was "very unknown to you" that's probably a good sign that this was none of y'all's business. Also shit translation but we do our best I guess

There's a scene in very early 60's Doctor Who where a character falls into a swamp, I think, and they throw not a rag doll, but a card board cut out of the actor. 10/10 they don't make 'em like this no more

I was surprised to find that the famous Jazzy Jeff throw was not a ragdoll as i remembered it, because the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air is absolutely a stalwart of Character Gets Thrown Dramatically

And the funny thing is, you always knew when Jazzy Jeff was about to get thrown out because he would always wear that same shirt for consistency.

always remember, friend,

now go in peace
